Shapely, elegant chardonnay with a delicate, smoky and earthy, appealingly reductive and lightly cheesy bouquet of grapefruit, melon and pineapple flavours over hints of toffee apple. Round, soft and elegant, it’s long and savoury, earthy and nutty, with an excellent core of vibrant citrus and tropical fruit, finishing with crisp, lemony acids.
Light aromas of peach, nectarine and restrained oak above a lightly herbal thread. Juicy and forward, with a creamy mouthfeel of peachy, grapefruit flavours, it finishes slightly sappy and metallic, lacking length of genuinely ripe flavours.
Fine and complex, this smooth, juicy and fruit-driven wine just lacks the impact for a higher score. There’s some funky mineral and wheatmeal complexity beneath its smoky aromas of grapefruit, melon and matchstick oak. Long and smooth, with a light baby fat texture, its bright citrus, melon and lightly tropical fruit finishes with delicacy and freshness.
Likely to develop quickly, this marmalade-like chardonnay is dominated to some extent by a big, buttery malolactic fermentation. Its toasty, honeyed aromas of lime juice and melon overlie smoky, bacony undertones. Finished with austere acidity, it’s broad and quite phenolic, lacking a little brightness and revealing sweetcorn-like undertones.
Delicate, dusty and spicy, with restrained peach, melon, citrus and cashew-like fruit assertively supported by buttery vanilla oak, this slightly edgy young chardonnay delivers intense, juicy fruit that smooths out towards a savoury but less convincing, greenish and slightly metallic finish.
Lacking convincing ripeness, with spicy, slightly varnishy aromas of apple, oatmeal and sweet vanilla oak, showing both smoky and herbal undertones. ItÕs forward and fruity, with moderate length, but thins out towards a slightly flat and metallic finish with a greenish, cashew-like aspect and lemony acids.
Likely to flesh out and shed its faintly herbal aspect, it unfolds a very nutty, spicy and estery bouquet of white peach, grapefruit and melon backed by cashew-like undertones and sweet vanilla oak. Long, elegant and creamy, with pristine flavours of white peach, crunchy apple, grapefruit and melon, it finishes with notes of cloves and ginger, plus a crisp, clean acidity.
Fragrant, earthy aromas of ruby grapefruit, pineapple and tropical fruits are lifted by estery scents of white flowers, lemon sherbet and minerals. ItÕs lean and taut, with a gentle presence of fruit supported by a fine lick of slatey texture, finishing with modest length, slightly greenish edges and a hint of confection.
Just a fraction candied, but with some pungent, meaty fruit and earthy, mineral aspects, this sweetly fruited chardonnay marries its smoky presence of melon and grapefruit with buttery, bacony oak. ItÕs round and unctuous, almost oily in its viscosity, and finishes with a hint of sweet corn.
Honest, ripe and flavoursome, this sweetly fruited and handsomely oaked chardonnay has an intense, spicy bouquet of peach, pineapple and mango backed by vanilla, clove and lemony oak-derived influences. ItÕs smooth and creamy, almost viscous in texture, with a pleasing length and depth of fruit knit with creamy, meaty complexity and finishing with a spicy acidity. Just lacks the poise and balance for a higher rating.
