  • Greenstone Vineyards Sangiovese 2016
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $30.00

Slightly jammy and overcropped, but with good flavour and varietal character, it presents appealing juicy cherry, dark plum and mulberry flavours and a fine slatey backbone. Finishing savoury, it’s earthy and meaty but rather too hollow for a higher rating.

Grey Sands Byzantine White Blend 2013
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $40.00

Pungent ripe aromas of apricot, ginger, cloves and cinnamon with nutty undernotes plus a floral whiff of Turkish Delight precede a heavily textured, unctuous but rather warm and spirity palate that finishes a little raw and hot.

  • Grey Sands Malbec 2016
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $50.00

I didn’t expect this. Floral, faintly spicy aromas of redcurrants, cranberries, briar and mulberries knit with fresh cedary oak reveal notes of cigarbox and mineral. It’s long, smooth and creamy, with a wonderful length of vivacious fruit framed by firm, pliant tannins that culminates in a lingering, savoury finish of sour-edged cherry/boysenberry flavour, dried herbs and minerals. Exceptional purity of fine fruit.

    Grey Sands Merlot 2000
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Lean, tight and green-edged, with small, faintly confectionary black and red berry fruits backed by herbal and faintly vegetal notes, such as bay lead and sage. Reveals nuances of animal hide.

    Grey Sands Merlot 2003
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Plump, juicy plum and dark cherry fruit with sweet cedary oak and greenish undertones, wrapped in slightly metallic tannins.

    Grey Sands Merlot 2004
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Supple, fragrant and pristine, with bright red berry, cherry and cedar/vanilla oak and some mineral and savoury qualities. Just too spiky and varnishy for a higher rating.

    Grey Sands Merlot 2005
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Fresh raspberry, cherry and red plum fruit knit with cedar/vanilla oak and supported by fine, powdery tannins. Profound mint/menthol influences underpin the wine, which become more mineral with aeration.

    Grey Sands Merlot 2006
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Minty, menthol and briary, with dark cherry, plum and berry flavour knit with smoky oak and fine-grained, astringent tannins.
