A popular, juicy, tropical and slightly sweet style, with a lightly herbal aroma of melon and gooseberries backed by a hint of mineral. ItÕs quite round and viscous, lacking great length, but offering generous varietal fruit underpinned by a fine chalkiness. It finishes with a soft acidity.
Fractionally sweet, but generous and punchy, this ripe, herbaceous and very fruit-driven sauvignon blanc has a ripe, pungent bouquet of gooseberry, melon and apricot with a lightly grassy, faintly sweaty background. Round and fruity, with intense tropical and passionfruit flavours, it finishes with fresh acids, a faint chalkiness and a suggestion of mango.
Product of a lighter year, lacking its customary depth of fruit, it reveals a lightly sweaty, cabbagey bouquet of tropical fruits backed by herbaceous, green bean influences and a hint of mineral. ItÕs moderately intense at the front of the palate but thins out towards a citrusy, faintly metallic and green-edged finish.
Bright and punchy, this crowd-pleasing sauvignon blanc has a lively bouquet of gooseberries, lychees and a hint of passionfruit. Fruit-driven, itÕs generous and mouthfilling, with a pleasing length of flavour and a light chalkiness beneath, finishing with a fresh, but slightly green-edged acidity.
More sophisticated than previous releases, with pleasing mineral and yeast-derived complexity. Its dusty, faintly herbal bouquet of gooseberries and melon precedes a fine, elegant and juicy palate whose brightly lit, translucent fruit extends down a graphite-like spine towards a long, steely finish of taut, lemony acidity.
More restrained and complex, with a fresh, lightly herbal bouquet of gooseberries, melon and a brightly lit, translucent and gentle palate that becomes quite mineral and savoury towards its lively, almost European finish.
Sweet, spicy and early-drinking, with a floral, musky scent of tropical fruits, guava, nutmeg and cinnamon backed by suggestions of a tea caddy. intense and juicy, itÕs pleasingly long and fruity with spicy and herbal undertones. Its chalky spine and fresh acids neatly counter its sweet finish.
Rather leathery and drying out, but still revealing a complex musky, spicy and leathery bouquet of fragrant violets, small red berries, cherries and plums with creamy vanilla and milk chocolate oak. A little hot and drying out, fractionally porty, it lacks a little finesse. Drink 1996-2000. Burge says it will peak soon, but falls short of his vision of a 20 year wine.
Powerful, but plush and fleshy dark Barossa shiraz whose brambly, floral and lightly varnishy aroma of violets and cassis prepares the way for a robust and concentrated palate suggestive of prunes and liqueur chocolates.
