Already browning in colour, this fast-ageing and herbaceous shiraz has a jammy, rather cooked and capsicum aspect. Spicy and peppery, it’s forward and rather thin in flavour.

    Granite Hills Shiraz 2003
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Wild, meaty aromas of plums, berries and currants with sweet undertones of vanilla/chocolate oak are backed by spicy hints of black pepper. Initially rich, smooth and sumptuous, with juicy, rather jammy fruit, it then thins out a little, finishing slightly cooked.

    Granite Hills Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A heady, meaty bouquet of brambly wild berry fruit, dark plums, cassis and cracked pepper precedes a long, smooth and generous palate underpinned by firm, fine tannins. ItÕs plump and juicy, saturated with flavours of red and black berries and carefully supported by cedar/chocolate oak. Riper than usual for this vineyard, but neither outsized nor exaggerated.

    Granite Hills Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Elegant, supple and savoury, this lightly herbal style lacks the length and depth of fruit sweetness for a higher rating. Spicy, faintly herbal aromas of cracked pepper, blackberries, cassis and greenish capsicum-like notes are backed by cedar/vanilla oak. ItÕs medium to full-bodied, with a forward presence of sweet ripe fruit that steadily unfolds more depth and length, culminating in a lean and slightly sappy finish.

    Granite Hills Shiraz 2008
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly over and under-ripened, its faintly currant-like bouquet is marginally baked and varnishy, with restrained aromas of blackberries, redcurrants and dusty mocha/chocolate oak. A forward presence of sweet, juicy redcurrants, sour cherries and blood plums thins out towards a slightly green-edged and metallic finish. Lacks a genuine core of bright, ripe fruit.

    Granite Hills Shiraz 2009
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Medium to full-bodied, with a wild, leathery and earthy bouquet of fiery dark plum and blackberry aromas lifted by scents of cracked pepper, itÕs smooth and sweetly oaked, with an evolving palate of jammy, faintly herbal and meaty fruit suggesting a little under and overripeness. ItÕs supported by fine, dusty tannins and finishes with lingering green note.
