    Giaconda Nebbiolo 2012
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Spicy floral scents of redcurrants, red rose petals and quince are backed by earthy, meaty notes and subtle suggestions of older oak. Very elegant and shapely, with almost a juicy presence of cherries, redcurrants and briary fruit extending over a fine, drying undercarriage, it culminates in a long, very persistent, dusty and savoury finish wrapped in a vibrant acidity.

Fullish red with ruby edges, this heady, musky and exotically spiced shiraz reveals an ethereal and peppery perfume of blackberries, dark plums, cassis and mocha/dark chocolate oak backed a meaty ripeness, a hint of graphite and an undercurrent of dried herbs. Full to medium in weight, it’s long and seamless with bright, briary flavours of sour-edged blackberries and dark plums, smoky, rustic and charcuterie-like nuances and spicy suggestions of licorice underpinned by fine, crunchy tannins. Now looks more like a C™te-R™tie than Hermitage.

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A massively proportioned shiraz by the standards of this vineyard, and one whose meaty ripeness and treatment with bruising, charry oak simply demands time in the cellar. It opens with exaggerated slowness to reveal deep, brooding, briary and brambly fruit and smoky, charcuterie-like undertones. Closed down to the point of lacking personality at present, it ultimately reveals deep, spicy, seamless qualities and a superb, long-term structure. Don’t be misled by its raw smokiness if you open it too early – simply wait a day or three.

incredibly freshness, richness and development of opulent, searing sour-edge fruit with time. a baby,

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deep red with a purple rim. Powerful, meaty and savoury, this substantial, complex and deeply layered shiraz slowly unfolds its concentrated expression of blackberry, blueberry, dark plum and cassis-like flavour beneath a spicy, musky perfume of cracked pepper, smoked meats and cinnamon. It steadily becomes more pungent, opulent and accessible, as its firm, chalky palate yields more fruit sweetness and depth with aeration. Exceptionally long and complete Ð it’s a statement of sophisticated winemaking intent. And it needs time!

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2008
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Reflective of a warmer, riper season, this brooding shiraz is going to need plenty of time. Its peppery, spicy bouquet of deep red and black fruits, dark chocolate and gamey, cedary oak reveals hints of musk, blueberries and briar. Backed by powerful, fine-grained savoury oak, itÕs medium to full-bodied but densely packed with fruit and textural elements. Long and firm, still rather closed, it slowly reveals the extent of its length and depth, finishing meaty and savoury, but with a profound, lingering core of black and red fruits still tightly wound around its fine, grainy tannins.

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2010
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Elegant and tightly focused, this dusty, faintly herbal shiraz has the length and structure to flesh out nicely. Its retrained smoky and floral bouquet of dark berries, cherries, plums and cedar/chocolate oak is lifted by a meaty presence of animal hide and ethereal, musky spices. Long and supple, with a retrained presence of vibrant, faintly sour-edged fruit, it finishes with a gentle extract, fresh acids and a lingering fruitfulness.

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2011
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Lean, greenish but likely to evolve slowly towards a fine-grained, restrained style reflective of the season. Its spicy, musky fragrance of red plums, cranberries, raspberries and dusty, cedary oak reveals scents of white pepper and dried herbs, clove and cinnamon, mint and forest floor. Fine and reserved, with a delicate forward presence of small red and black berries backed by a chalky spine, it finishes with good but not great length, with a slightly sappy and herbal edge.

    Giaconda Warner Vineyard Shiraz 2012
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Arrestingly complex and savoury, this stylish, smoky and distinctly Rh™ne-inspired shiraz unfolds a dusty, faintly minty perfume of heady floral notes, sweet small black and red berries, tight-knit smoky oak, herbal bay leaf nuances and a hint of charcuterie. ItÕs long, pliant and fine-grained, with a pleasing core of fresh, juicy and tightly focused flavours of small sour-edged blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plums tightly knit with cedary oak and dusty tannins, finishing long and savoury with an invigorating acidity. Very smart indeed.
