A top-class effort whose lavish, luxuriant expression of concentrated fruit, tightly knit oak and refreshing acidity combine to give it rare shape, structure and vinosity in wines of this style. A luscious, syrupy and soft-cushioned expression of lemon, stonefruit, honey and marmalade moves seamlessly down the palate, finishing with a gentle, but pronounced punctuation and focus.
A remarkably compete and complex, smooth, polished and luscious dessert wine whose delicate floral perfume of fresh citrus, pineapple and other tropical fruits reveals nutty, brioche-like undertones. ItÕs long, sweet and searingly concentrated; a truly exorbitant and full-blown wine with exceptional elegance and balance that finishes with freshness, tightness and focus.
Long, very luscious and concentrated, with a spicy, almost varnishy bouquet of apricot, peach and honey with spicy undertones of cinnamon, cloves and ginger, a hint of creme caramel and tightly integrated fresh vanilla oak. Unusually oily and viscous Ð even by the standard of this wine Ð itÕs unctuous presence of stonefruit, tangerine and tropical fruits extends with pleasing length, finishing with fresh, zesty acids and a lingering core of flavour.
A very fine and pristine expression of this signature wine that retains elegance, freshness and focus despite its extraordinary levels of concentration and intensity. Its faintly smoky, waxy bouquet of melon, orange rind, vanilla oak and brioche opens slowly, while its luscious and supremely intense palate marries lustrous flavours of stonefruit, melon and citrus with toasty undertones of nougat and creme caramel. It finishes with remarkable length and a finely balanced acidity.
Rather evolved and toasty, this rather oaky and relatively uncomplicated expression of this wine has a pungent, spicy and smoky bouquet of toffee apple and creme brule backed by notes of cloves and cinnamon. ItÕs very intense and luscious, with a molasses-like note beneath its candied and quite toasty presence of raisined, syrupy fruit. Not for the long term.
A very complete, luscious and supremely sweet dessert wine whose pungent bouquet of apricot, orange rind and lemon meringue reveals underling notes of sweet vanilla oak, creme caramel and a hint of brioche. Heavily botrytised, itÕs unctuous and luscious, extending with intensity and viscosity with penetrative lemon, apricot, peach and honeyed notes backed by nuances of sweet vanilla and marmalade. Tightly wrapped in a fresh, lemony acidity, itÕs long and persistent, finishing with exceptional balance and freshness.
A superb example of the De Bortoli style, delivering artful balance and brightness. ItÕs pungent and heavily botrytised, with a marmalade-like bouquet of honey and creme caramel backed by sweet vanilla oak. Very concentrated and luscious, itÕs long and viscous, with pristine flavours of white peach, apricot, melon and grapefruit and citrus finishing with delightful balance, persistence and lemony acidity.
