Firm, robust, rather hard and lacking fleshiness, with greenish, minty and leathery fruit against over-extracted tough and sappy tannins.
Rather varnishy, with heady, brambly berry/plum fruit. Very spicy and concentrated, now drying out with a slightly sappy but savoury finish.
Straightforward, sweet and leathery, slightly reductive, with some sweet berry/plum fruit, but generally rather lifeless, firm and lacking elegance.
Lighter, sweeter style, quite pretty with sweet herby small red berry/mulberry fruit, light earthy, leathery development with creamy oak and sappy tannins, supple and reserved.
Very green, overly protected red with simple musky/herby cassis/mulberry/plum fruit, plus a lanolin and camphor background. Skinny, lacks structure.
Supple, sweet and creamy shiraz, with attractive, if rather simple and confection-like plum/cassis/raspberry fruit, cedary chocolate oak and a soft, savoury finish. Lacks stuffing, but easy to enjoy.
Still holding, but spicy, meaty and botrytised, with rather cooked red berry fruit, finishing sweet and savoury.
Pungent, wild, spicy and briary, with piercing cassis and dark cherry fruit, suggestions of mint and eucalypt. Concentrated, tight, taut and penetrative, with slightly hard-edged tannins. The turning point.
Firm, sumptuous, beautifully textured and savoury, laced with musky cloves, cinnamon and delivering vibrant pure dark sour-edged cherry/plum/cassis fruit. Hints of meaty complexity. Excellent oak, balance.
Superlative, definitive Victorian shiraz. Peppery scents of sweet earth and leather, musk, cloves, truffles and violets, with perfectly focused red and black berry fruit. Firm, tight and polished.
Greenish, meaty, musky, lighter style with wild raspberry fruit and light forward palate finishing thin and savoury.
Very youthful, bright and lively, with penetrative minty blueberry/cassis fruit and exotic musk/clove complexity. Fine length, weight, integration of oak and tannin.
