Elegant, spicy and rather polished, with a vibrant, brightly lit bouquet of briary, confiture-like blackberry, dark plum, blueberry and cassis-like aromas backed by musky spices, dried herbs and a subtle background of older oak. ItÕs long and smooth, charmingly balanced and evenly fruited, with enticing, juicy fruit supported by dusty, pliant tannins, before a savoury finish wrapped in fresh acids. Delicious.
A traditional regional style with the finesse and structure to cellar well. Earthy and faintly mineral, its deep aromas of dark plums, blackberries and blueberries reveal undertones of chocolate and polished leather, Underpinned by a firm, drying astringency, its long, still rather closed palate reveals a pleasing balance between vibrant fruit, structure and acidity, finishing with rustic, earthy nuances.
Complex and gentle, this medium-term grenache has a dusty, floral perfume of redcurrants, blood plums, violets and white pepper overlying suggestions of fennel, blueberries and earthy notes. ItÕs supple and fine-grained, with a tightly astringent spine of dusty tannins and a hint of older oak beneath an elegant presence of blue and red berries, dark plums and a hint of fig.
Meaty, dark-fruited and firmish, with deep, brooding flavour.
Luxuriant and polished, lusciously ripened, with raisins, plum cake, licorice and spice.
Heady and spicy, effortlessly smooth and elegant, long and deeply layered.
A richly flavoured, well ripened and complete, grenache-dominant blend with a fine length of powerful dark frutis inderpinendby a firm, gravelly spine and showing some leathery and meaty development. Does need time.
Hardly a wine for the technocrat, this wild and musky viognier reveals nutty aromas of apricots, banana and peaches, with suggestions of bound and free sulphide. It’s rich and juicy, offers plenty of citrus and stonefruit flavour, and finishes savoury, if perhaps a little hot and raw.
Varnishy, spicy oatmeal-like aromas of citrus and banana, with a rather coarse and oily palate with plenty of spice, but insufficient shape and definition. Finishes a little hot and bitter.
A spicy and slightly confectionary expression of peach and apricot flavours, backed by musky scents of cloves and cinnamon. There’s a hint of floral perfume about the nose, with undertones of a light earthiness. Soft, juicy and viscous, the palate is slightly cooked and oily, but offers a pleasing length of flavour before a nutty, spicy finish without the heat seen so often in contemporary viognier.
