Steeped in very ripe, almost tarry blueberry fruit, this is an old-fashioned red whose rather cooked, meaty and leathery aromas suggest sweet treacle, plum and raspberry jam. It’s rich and round, already evolving with musky animal hide-like complexity. Firmly built around a spine of stiff tannins, but slightly softened by some lightly creamy oak.
A powerful, long-term wine that flaunts its total disregard for modern wine fashion. Its profoundly concentrated and pristine aromas of dark plums and cherry kernels are enhanced by meaty, musky undertones of sweet earth and leather. Long and astringent, its thick, weighty palate of dark plum, blackberry, chocolate and leathery flavours finishes firm and savoury with clove and cinnamon spices. Time is essential.
A step up in brightness and elegance for this label. There’s a confectionary note to its vibrant, floral aromas of blueberries, blackberries and redcurrants, plus undertones of licorice and spice. Smooth and silky, the palate delivers a penetrative and spicy cut of intense, confiture-like fruit backed by nuances of black pepper. Framed by fine, bony tannins, it’s long, evenly balanced and deeply concentrated.
An old-fashioned, modestly oaked grenache blend grown and made to a tee. ItÕs earthy and meaty, floral and rustic, with layers of perfumed, dark-fruited scents and underlying bony, stony qualities. Full to medium in weight, itÕs smooth and concentrated, with brambly flavours of dark berries, blueberries and plums supported by very fine, drying and powdery tannin. It finishes long, and very persistent.
An alluring, deeply flavoured and rustic blend with a heady floral perfume of small black and red berries, blueberries and plums backed by musky suggestions of cloves and cinnamon. ItÕs silky and satiny, with a long, unctuous palate whose sumptuous juicy layers of fruit are framed by polished, drying tannins. ItÕs smooth and charming, with an exceptionally persistent core of intense fruit and a lasting impression of licorice.
Dark, dense and kernel-like, with fractionally jammy aromas of sweet blackberries, cassis, raspberries and blueberries backed by meaty, chocolatey and leathery notes and a hint of mineral. Juicy, long and luscious, with a licorice-like core of meaty dark fruits underpinned by firm, dusty tannins, it finishes long and spicy, with lingering notes of mint and menthol, plus a faintly baked, raisiny aspect.
