    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 1999
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deep, dark and fleshy, old-fashioned, firm and alcoholic, laced with musky cloves and nutmeg. Already showing leathery, earthy and bitumen complexity, its briary, spicy sweet-sour blueberry and cherry fruit is matched with older oak and wrapped in drying, bony tannins.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2001
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Rustic, earthy and leathery grenache with plenty of ripe fruit and extract. Meaty, musky aromas of flowers, stewed plums and spices precede a chewy, tarry and heavily worked palate whose fruit borders on the overcooked. Very firm and concentrated, lacking a little fruit sweetness.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2002
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very drinkable, harmonious and approachable grenache without the excessively confected flavours of so many, and with rare cellaring potential for this variety in Australia. Its sweet fragrance of raspberries, blueberries, dark cherries and plums is distinctively floral, with a whiff of white pepper and restrained oak. Long and smooth, full to medium in weight, it’s packed with pristine small berry flavours before a drying, savoury finish.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2004
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A spicy, floral perfume of blueberry confiture, rose petals, cherries and blackcurrants offers just a hint of confection. Smooth and tightly focused, its vibrant and juicy palate of intense black berry fruit is neatly framed by a supple grade of fine tannin, harmoniously finishing with length of fruit, refreshing acidity and brightness.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2005
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly overcooked, this well-polished grenache reveals deep, dark, rather closed and meaty aromas of ripe plums and currants with a spirity background. Its forward, intense and jammy flavours of raspberries and redcurrants thins out marginally towards a lean and angular finish of pleasing acidity.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2006
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A vibrant, perfumed and fine-grained grenache that should ease back with more savouriness and complexity over time. Its floral, brambly aromas of blueberries, blackberries and redcurrants are backed by nutty, older oak with scents of cloves and cinnamon. Long and juicy, its ripe and generous palate reveals lingering bright fruit and a fine-grained smoothness finished by fresh, lively acids.

    d’Arenberg The Custodian Grenache 2007
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Underpinned by fine, almost fragile tannins, this long, persistent and savoury grenache has a lingering presence of spicy fruit. Scented with ethereal, floral aromas of raspberries, red cherries, cloves and cinnamon, itÕs long, silky-smooth palate finishes quite drying, with intense, vibrant berry fruit and a suggestion of currants.
