An old school shiraz blend whose bloody presence of dark plums and blackberries is backed by notes of mint, chocolate and eucalypt. ItÕs firm and spicy, slightly raw in it’s youth but will certainly soften with time.
A stunning move towards a finer, more Rhoney and grenache-driven expression of this wine, sporting artful balance and texture. Deeply floral and spicy, laced with blackberries, cranberries, blueberries and dark plums, it reveals notes of licorice, smoked meats and cracked pepper. Supported by a fine, drying, crunchy spine, it’s medium in weight, delivering a fine length of pristine black and blue fruits, finishing with a refreshing acidity and savoury aspects. Astonishing for its price.
d’Arenberg’s improbable nomenclature now incorporates a reference to tractors. The sauvignon blanc immortalised so is a surprisingly fragrant, grassy and brightly flavoured wine with restraint, style and a lingering, savoury finish. I like it.
Simple, straightforward sauvignon blanc with herby, grassy aromas of lychees, passionfruit and banana-like estery undertones. Broad and generous, with sweet passionfruit and herbal qualities, it finishes rather flat and lacking definition, with suggestions of green cashew and bathpowder.
Pungent, sweaty, musky and herbaceous, its aromas of melon and gooseberries precede a rather confectionary palate lacking its typical brightness that finishes shortish, lean and slightly metallic.
