The entry model Cullen red. Delightfully smooth, vibrant and elegant savoury, earthy red with balance and focus. Spicy aromas of dark cherries, berries, plums and cedar/chocolate oak introduce a vibrant, juicy palate tightly wound around fine tannins. Bursting with vibrant flavours of black fruits, it’s smooth and creamy, finishing with earthy spiciness.
Spicy, meaty, earthy medium weight red whose floral, cedary aromas of dark cherries, blueberries and cranberry overlie suggestions of game meat and dark chocolate. Beginning with some palate-staining dark fruit, the wine then finishes surprisingly thin and hollow, just lacking the real structure to support its pleasing flavours.
Vibrant spicy, meaty and lightly peppery aromas of dark cherries and plums are handsomely backed by assertive but balanced cedar/vanilla oak, backed by hits of mint and typical regional earthy undertones. Intense, mouthfilling black fruits are supported by a firmish and astringent rod of drying but loose-knit tannin, finishing long and savoury. It’s firmer and slightly more raw and approachable than previous Mangans, but should cellar well as more of a serious wine.
Smooth and supple, this soft, savoury and laid-back dry red delivers light flavours of black and red cherries, plums and berries backed by earthy nuances and restrained cedary oak. ItÕs also quite dusty and herbal, with a greenish undercurrent that is likely to become more pronounced over time.
Rustic, meaty and earthy, with a pungent, floral and brambly bouquet of dark plums, raspberries and blackberries backed by hints of raisins and restrained vanilla/cedary oak. Underpinned by fine-grained powdery tannin, itÕs medium to full in weight, rich, soft and charmingly approachable, with a persistent and savoury finish of red and black fruits.
Closed and brooding, but elegant, supple and complex, with an earthy, autumnal and floral scent of violets, black and blue berries and restrained cedary oak back by nuances of forest floor and a herbal dustiness. Supported by silky, fine-grained tannins, its vibrant palate of black and blue fruits builds intensity towards the savoury finish, where it also leaves a suggestion of mint and menthol.
Musky and floral, with confiture-like aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, raspberries and redcurrants knit with sweet vanilla oak and backed by suggestions of dried herbs. Its wild, earthy palate has a vibrant, brightly lit presence of juicy blackberry, plum and mulberry flavour supported by supple, grainy tannins. It finishes with length, but a slightly edgy acidity.
Youthful, but likely to build weight, this distinctive young wine has a sweet, spicy and floral bouquet of blueberries, redcurrants and dark cherries with suggestions of briar, cedary oak and underbrush set against a faintly smoky, meaty background. ItÕs supple and medium-bodied, with a sour-edged expression of juicy cherry/plum fruit underpinned by very fine, dusty tannins and wrapped up by an assertive, slightly edgy acidity.
Bright, complex and rather wild, with a wild, earthy bouquet of blackberries, dark cherries and blueberries, restrained cedar/vanilla oak lifted by scents of cassis and violets. Medium to full-bodied, itÕs mouthfilling and elegant, with a pleasing density of fruit supported by loose-knit, grainy tannins finishing long, smooth and almost savoury with lively acids and no hard edges. ThereÕs a persistent core of brightly lit fruit and a light herbal note.
Faintly herbal, with a pretty, violet-like fragrance of sweet mulberries, red berries, dark plums and cedary oak and a long, elegant palate whose restrained flavours of small black, blue and red berries reveal dusty, herbal nuances. Supported by fine, powdery tannins and knit with reserved cedary oak, it extends towards a lean and slightly green-edged finish.
