Deliciously pure, fresh and finely textured, this spicy, savoury viognier has a musky fragrance of apricot, peach, cloves and cinnamon. ItÕs long and laid-back, with a fresh, crystal-clear presence of stonefruit and gentle nutty, creamy undertones extending over a fine, chalky, faintly grippy backbone towards a pristine, drying and refreshing finish.
Spicy and slightly spiky, revealing a tangy, long and racy expression of riesling that finishes with some austerity and minerality, but also some sweet-sour aspects.
Discordant, blocky and lacking length, this forward and handsomely over-oaked pinot dries out before it should and wants for length and fruit sweetness. Laced with cola and dried herbs, it’s a long way from the wines that made Cristom’s reputation.
Complex earthy, cedar, cigarbox and bonfire aromas over earthy suggestions of menthol, mint and gravel. Supple, and elegant, with slightly cooked/herby fruit beginning to dry out, leaving a dusty, gravely and rather green-edged extract of assertive, drying tannin. Lacks great complexity.
Mature, herbal and earthy aromas of sweet blackberries, mint and menthol. Extracted, firm and sinewy palate whose tarry, leathery fruit tends to lacks freshness, drying to leave a blocky spine of extract and lingering suggestions of mint and menthol.
Robust, minty red whose meaty, earthy bouquet of mocha and suede leather precedes a gravely and extracted palate whose fruit has begun to break up, leaving an astringent grip of powdery tannins.
Cedary, lightly smoky and earthy bouquet of dark chocolate, small berries and iron filings. Retaining a bright focus of sweet, minty fruit, itÕs long, firm and tightly knit around a fine-grained spine of powdery tannins. Well structured, it finishes with lingering meaty, savoury influences and hint of menthol and cough syrup.
Powerful, astringent cabernet with an earthy but relatively primary bouquet of plums and blackberries, prunes and currants, with sweet cedary new oak. Long and firm, tight and compact, gradually unfolding sweet berry and leathery fruit with cedary oak qualities harnessed by a firm, integrated tannic backbone.
Developed, minty, earthy and cedary aromas of herby, slightly meaty fruit before a dusty, drying palate of cedar, chocolate and cigarboxy flavours that perhaps lacks the depth of fruit to partner its rather firmish tannins.
A mature, complex cabernet with a delicate floral perfume of lightly minty, meaty and cedary aromas. Long and tightly focused, it has a firm grip of sinewy, gravely tannins and a lingering, savoury finish.
