Dusty, spicy and faintly herbal, with a marginally baked presence of cherries, raspberries, cranberries and blood plums supported by firm, sinewy tannins and finishing a little short.
A fine, elegant and textural sangiovese from one of Australia’s leading makers of this variety. Bright aromas of juicy red berries, redcurrants and earthy undertones are lifted by sweet spices and floral notes. It’s long and complete, with a generous core of gentle but mouthfilling flavour that moves effortlessly towards a lingering savoury finish with suggestions of red licorice and as characteristic acidity. A excellent, expressive wine offering wonderful value.
Packed with flavours of licorice and dark chocolate, this is another assertive, sumptuous Coriole red which flaunts some rather ripe fruit and assertive alcohol in spirited fashion. It’s very firm, a little hard-edged and its deep plum/cassis fruit and creamy texture dry out just a little tough.
Delightfully flavoursome and uncomplicated shiraz with a sweet perfume of fragrant cassis, raspberries and sweet plums, vanilla/chocolate oak and dusty pepper/clove aromas. Alluring and elegant, its supple but exceptionally expressive palate of vibrant small black and red berries, plums and licorice is framed by firm, but velvet-smooth tannins, before a tangy savoury finish.
A fragrant, almost heady perfume of spicy, peppery small red and black berries reveals attractive floral and lightly meaty undertones. Long, supple and silky-smooth, the vibrant, juicy palate presents a pristine spectrum of small berry flavour backed by nuances of spice and carefully handled oak. Framed by particularly tight tannins, this wine offers exceptional value.
Firm and polished, this long, vibrantly fruited and handsomely oaked shiraz reveals meaty and minty aspects, but avoids overripeness. Its rather confiture-like expression of berries and plums overlies fruitcake and currant-like aspects. Framed by drying, powdery tannins, it delivers a long, smooth palate whose juicy fruit is backed by creamy vanilla oak and suggestions of menthol.
