  • Clonakilla Viognier 2002
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very restrained, complex and unusually pure viognier, deliberately crafted with a minimum of winemaker-driven artefact. Delicate aromas of honeysuckle and apricot, quince and spices precede a supple, fleshy palate whose lemon meringue, stonefruit and cinnamon/clove flavours finish nutty, dry and savoury.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2003
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

First-class viognier with a delicate and alluring perfume of honeysuckle, lemon blossom, cloves, cinnamon and apricot. Very supple, round and elegant, finishing taut and savoury, the palate reveals a restrained sweet core of delicate stonefruit, citrus and spice flavours framed by tangy acids. Precisely measured and delivered, with tightly integrated and restrained oak qualities, it’s a lesson in varietal viognier.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2004
    Jeremy’s score 84/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Slightly varnishy and estery aromas of spicy almonds, apricot blossom and honeysuckle precede a round, oily and rather oaky palate. It’s forward, confectionary and slightly hard-edged, lacking its customary shape and elegance, finishing a little blocky and angular. Possibly influenced by a stuck ferment.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2005
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

An outstanding wine; receiving the highest score I am yet to post for an Australian viognier. Its spicy aromas of apricots, cinnamon and cloves are backed by a pleasingly restrained background of reductive and meaty undertones. The generous palate delivers exceptional viscosity and vinosity, but has the tightness and focus to avoid any semblance of overblown characters. Fine and silky, it’s seamlessly long and persistent, with a refreshing and savoury finish.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2006
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A complex, musky, spicy and perfumed viognier whose sumptuous, fruit-driven palate culminates in a finely shaped finish of exceptional persistence and smoothness. Scented with lemon blossom and apricot, it’s creamy and nutty, with undertones of melon and acacia. Very elegant and seamless, with a persistent core of fruit and a refreshing, but soft acidity.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2007

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2008
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Crystalline and mineral, this savoury young viognier is fractionally raw-edged in its youth, but has the length and refinement to settle down with time in the bottle. Backed by dusty, musky scents of cloves and cinnamon, its nutty bouquet of apricot, melon and tangerine precedes an unctuous, concentrated and fleshy palate whose gentle, smooth and creamy presence overlies some angular skinsy, spirity aspects that have yet to integrate. It finishes long, dry and nutty, with a lingering core of bright flavour.
