Supremely elegant, measured and fine-grained, with a deep, alluring fragrance of sweet red cherries, berries, plums, blackberries and briar laced with spicy, peppery and faintly smoky nuances and backed by cedary oak, a hint of bacon, clove and cinnamon. Its beautifully weighted and almost Burgundian palate is medium to full-bodied, with a silkiness and suppleness that belies the intensity of its pristine black and red fruit flavours. Supported by fine, crunchy tannin, it finishes with fine length and a lingering dusty, stalky influence.

  • Clonakilla Syrah 2015
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

Musky dark berries, cracked pepper and charcuterie meats; luscious, savoury and mineral.

  • Clonakilla Syrah 2016
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

  • Clonakilla Syrah 2017
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Medium-weight, soft and forward, this rather simple and confectionary shiraz reveals a dusty scent of light red fruits, capsicum and snap pea backed by nuances of smoked meats and a hint of citrus oil. Supported by very fine, dusty tannins, it lacks true drive, depth and expression.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 1998
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A big, forward, early drinking and savoury wine whose musky perfume of cinnamon, lemon blossom, fresh Fuji apple and pear precedes a generous, oily mouthful of thick, tangy and unctuous fruit of good length before a persistent chalky finish punctuated by lemony acids.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2000
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Almost bashfully reserved, but deliciously dry, chalky and refreshing, this wine has no hard edges at all. There’s a spicy nutmeg note to its perfume of lemon blossom and apricot, while a hint of dirty earthiness adds to the complexity and charm of its savoury long palate of peach, pear and apricot flavours.

  • Clonakilla Viognier 2001
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A no-holds-barred viognier with punch and character, whose flaunting of its musky, almost wild and smoky varietal quality is reminiscent of a decent Condrieu. Spicy apricot and peach flavours are presented in a juicy, sumptuous and spirited palate of length and richness, before a nutty, savoury finish.
