    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2002
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

There’s some rather pungent reductive complexity about the bouquet of this wine that some will find a little on the cheesy side, but I enjoy the creamy, nutty and smoky, almost meaty background to its deep aromas of honeydew melon. Long and savoury, richly textured and seamless, it reveals a deep core of concentrated fruit before a nutty finish of soft acidity. A real return to form for this label.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2003
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very complex and mature chardonnay for its comparative youth, with a slightly brassy and mealy bouquet of restrained peach and nectarine fruit supported by powerful creamy, honeyed and toasty complexity and nuances of pastry. Generous, round and creamy, it’s very toasty and developed, with a structured palate of punchy fruit finishing with some metallic and greenish notes. Drink soon.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2005
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A tight, brooding chardonnay that needs time to flesh out. Its faintly smoky, meaty and funky aromas of peach, quince and melon-like fruit overlie toasty, creamy and lightly reductive complexity. Richly textured, its long and deeply fruited palate of melon, quince and pineapple fruit extends towards a lightly powdery finish of lemony acidity.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2006
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A restrained and classically stylish chardonnay with some interesting smoky aspects. Nutty and delicate, its restrained bouquet of cumquat, quince, melon and spicy, mealy undertones reveals a struck match aroma. ItÕs smooth and elegant, long and reserved with slightly toasty melon-like fruit underpinned by a fine chalkiness, building in intensity towards its lingering, creamy and savoury finish. If it emerges that some of the smokiness is smoke taint-related, I will need to reassess its quality and longevity.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2008
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Forward and generous, this mineral young chardonnay reveals lightly tropical aromas of grapefruit, peach, melon and fresh creamy vanilla oak backed by some vegetal notes and nuances of lemon sherbet, cinnamon and ginger. Fruit-driven and tropical, the palate has some supple and elegant aspects, but lacks genuine length and depth, finishing a little attenuated with green-edged grapefruit notes.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2011
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A lean, medium-bodied but very complex young chardonnay whose evolved, waxy bouquet of melon, lemon, white peach and honeysuckle reveals spicy nuances of cinnamon and ginger. Initially round and juicy, its buttery presence of melon/peach flavour reveals creamy, meaty undertones, extending towards a savoury, rather mineral finish of bathpowder and lemony acids. Lacks the depth of fruit for a higher rating.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2012
    Jeremy’s score 77/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Thin, forward and green-edged, with a simple presence of confectionary fruit that lacks length, depth and ripeness. Its fragile depth of fruit is unable to carry its burden of heavy-duty leesy handling in the cellar.

    Cassegrain Fromenteau Reserve Chardonnay 2014
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Elegant and supple, this long and gentle chardonnay marries its charming fruit with fresh, but finely integrated oak influences. Its bright aromas of white and yellow peach, dried flowers and nectarines overlie creamy nuances of vanilla oak and a whiff of ginger. Its smooth, fluffy presence of pristine, translucent flavour is backed by a fine dustiness and tightly integrated oak, extending towards a fresh, savoury and faintly meaty finish.
