    Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Youthful, rather closed and brooding, with a deep, cedary, dark-fruited bouquet presently rather impenetrable in its youth, but slowly revealing notes of dark chocolate with red and black fruits. Long and sumptuous, itÕs firm, drying and grainy, delivering deep, profound and classic cabernet characters of cassis, mulberries, dark cherries tightly knit with faintly smoky, chocolate/cedar oak. Exceptionally long and complete.

    Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A majestic, polished and very sophisticated cabernet of world standing. Deep aromas of violets, cassis, blueberries and dark chocolate/cedary oak reveal smoky undertones of peat and graphite plus a whiff of musk and vanilla. Very dark and perfectly ripened, itÕs long and mineral, perfectly knit with assertive fine-grained oak and framed by very fine, polished and loose-knit tannins. ThereÕs a faint suggestion of dried herbs throughout the palate, but its ripeness is exemplary. Remarkably balanced and stable.

    Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very stylish, St-Julien-like cabernet whose rather dusty, floral bouquet of dark fruits and fragrant cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak reveal undertones of earthy complexity and a hint of dried herbs. Sumptuously fruited, ripe and juicy, its plush flavours of small berries and plums are still tightly restrained by firmish, bony and fine-grained tannins and backed by smooth, sweet oak. It finishes quite savoury, with pleasing length and texture. It clearly has many years to develop.

Very stylish and finely balanced, with alluring aromas of cassis, mulberries, dark cherries and cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak backed by dusty nuances of forest floor. Long, fine and extremely elegant, itÕs finely crafted and rather disciplined, with a pure, pristine and deeply layered presence of small berries, plums and cherries, knit with fine-grained new oak and a firm, gravelly spine. It finishes with excellent length, a measured persistence and fine minerality.

    Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A measured, elegant and red-fruited cabernet whose dusty, cedary aromas of small red berries, baked earth, chocolatey, creamy and faintly meaty oak and delicate herbal notes precede a long and polished palate that slowly fills out with aeration. Supported by a slightly sinewy and powdery spine, itÕs plump, juicy and faintly stewed flavours of small red and black berries and cedary oak extend towards a lingering, kernelly finish. Lacks the presence and balance of the top vintages.
