Delicate aromas of pear, apple and distinctive muscat-like spiciness precede a tangy, juicy palate whose generous and refreshing expression of oily lime/apple fruit finishes crisp and crunchy.
A pleasingly fresh, punchy and shapely riesling whose delicate flowery perfume of lime juice, lemon and apple is backed by musky, spicy undertones. Round and generous, it’s long and crunchy, with tangy fruit underpinned by chalky phenolics and punctuated by refreshing acidity.
Smoky and slightly candied, this ripe and vibrant riesling has a floral, rose petal perfume of apple, pear and lemon sherbet. Rather round and forward, it’s soft and juicy, with a fine powdery underswell of phenolic influence beneath its lively and slightly confectionary fruit.
For several years during the 1970s and 1980s, riesling was actually the most widely planted grape variety in Coonawarra. Scary thought. People were using it to make dry white wines as well as a sparkling base. Even scarier. While not even the locals drink it without even a year’s bottle-age, every now and again, Coonawarra does spin out a eye-catching riesling that develops well in the bottle. Wynns has achieved this with its refreshing and uncomplicated 2006 release. Its fresh aromas of lime juice and green apple are lifted by a floral aspect, while its long, lean and shapely palate of apple, pear and limey fruit finishes crisp and lively. It’s underpinned by an appealing chalkiness and will develop for around five years.
A generous, rather broad but still crisply defined riesling with a zesty, sherbet-like expression of lemon/lime fruit backed by slightly candied and tropical influences. ItÕs long and chalky, with a pleasing tightness and acidity.
Broad and candied, this warmer season wine reveals a relatively simple expression of lemon, lime and pineapple flavour backed by chalky phenolics. It becomes quite thick and broad, finishing rather awkward and out of focus.
Flavoursome, forward and juicy, this generous young riesling has a punchy, slightly candied fragrance of pristine lemon rind, guava, white peach and lime zest. ItÕs moderately long and chalky, with a long, fresh presence of vibrant fruit carefully focused towards a marginally sweet finish, tightened by its acidity and drying, dusty backbone.
Crystal-clear, with an exuberant, vibrant presence of lime juice, white peach, apple and lemony flavour, itÕs lifted by a fresh, floral perfume. Generous and juicy, its fresh, zesty palate is underpinned by a chalky texture of dusty phenolics, finishing lemon pith-like mouthfeel and a puckering cut of fresh acidity.
An open, alluring bouquet of fresh white peach, apple and pear is lifted by a scent of fresh white flowers. Long and juicy, with a pure, delicate presence of apple and pear-like fruit underpinned by a very fine chalkiness, its lingering fruit and a faint sweetness are tightly focused around a wrap of limey acids.
Fresh and flavoursome, this uncomplicated, bright and punchy young riesling has a faintly mineral, chalky and citrusy bouquet plus a finely textured palate whose tangy flavours of lemon and lime extend towards a refreshing and faintly savoury finish.
A fresh, pure and easy-drinking riesling whose spicy and deeply floral perfume of lime and lemon reveals suggestions of pear and apple. ItÕs translucently clear and gentle, with a tangy presence of pristine lime and lemon flavour backed by a fine chalkiness and finishing long, soft and gentle.
A forward, juicy and moderately intense riesling for the short to medium term. Its lively fragrance of apple and citrus blossom reveals a hint of pear, while its gentle, soft and easy-paced palate finishes with length and freshness.
