Deep, penetrative scents of violets, cassis, dark plums
and blackberries are knit with a handsome grade of smoky cedar/chocolate oak and backed by nuances of exotic musky spices, white pepper and cloves, coconut and nutmeg. Its smooth, deeply flavoured palate of tightly woven fruit and chocolate, savoury oak us underpinned by a polished, fine and mineral backbone, revealing plenty of spicy, meaty complexity. ItÕs very long and brightly lit, with exemplary balance.
A high point in the history of Coonawarra shiraz. Its wild, peppery perfume of cassis, blackberries, mulberries and fresh cedar/vanilla/chocolate oak is lifted by sweet floral aromas and backed by spicy nuances of cloves, bramble and graphite. Full to medium-bodied, itÕs unctuous depth of pristine dark fruit effortlessly integrates with tight-grained oak and supple, fine tannins, finishing with wonderful length and balance.
Another Wynns release of exceptional latent strength but simultaneously revealing a finely crafted elegance and poise. Its faintly herbal, dusty fragrance of red berries and tight-knit oak overlies an array of earthy, gamey scents, musky spices and white pepper. Underpinned by firm but fine-grained tannins and roasting tray-like nuances, its long, smooth and complex palate steadily builds intensity, weight and power towards the finish, culminating in finish of exceptional length and balance.
Plush and polished, with luscious dark berries and plums, fresh oak and firmish tannins.
Heady and floral, with pristine elegant fruit, gentle oak and supple tannins.
Perfumed and musky, meaty and earthy, with pristine dark fruits, restrained oak and gentle, crunchy tannins. Long and supremely elegant.
A finer and more elegant Michael Shiraz whose musky fragrance of dark berries, cassis, plums and briar knit tightly with measured cedar/vanilla oak and is lifted by exotic scents of spice and cracked pepper. Deeply flavoured and underpinned by fine mineral tannins, it’s long and vibrant, with a pleasing core of brightly lit small black, blue and red fruits wrapped in a lively acidity.
Old school Coonawarra; floral and cedary, with cassis, redcurrants, cranberries and blood plums knit with cedar/vanilla oak and a hint of baked earth. It’s long and reserved, building weight and strength towards the finish, revealing meaty and leathery development. With time in the bottle this wine has become more fragrant and ethereal and has evolved plushness, smoothness and creaminess on the palate. It’s more sumptuous and polished than in its youth, with significantly more length and drive.
A classic, polished and beautifully refined Coonawarra cabernet scented with deep aromas of cassis, mulberries and dark plums lifted by a dusting of violets and dried herbs, tightly knit with creamy cedary oak and backed by a whiff of graphite. Searingly intense, delivering a pristine, sumptuous and mouthcoating core of plush dark fruits tightly integrated with fine-grained French oak, it’s underpinned by a very fine, but genuinely firm backbone of tannin. It finishes almost savoury, with a hint of dark olives. Yes, you can open it now – give it plenty of air if you do – but it’s made for the longer term. It won’t disappoint.
Very pure and stylish, with a minty, pastille-like bouquet of cassis, dark red berries, cedar oak, cloves and cinnamon laced with a whiff of white pepper and backed by a hint of eucalypt and menthol. Full to medium-bodied, itÕs fine and elegant, with a palate-straining presence of small dark and red berries extending down a chalky spine towards a lingering finish of mineral notes, violet and cassis-like flavour.
