Pristine and remarkably youthful, with a dusty, violet-like perfume of primary fruits Ð cassis, blueberries, dark plums and cherries Ð backed by fresh cedary oak and a hint of dried herbs. Long and supremely elegant, its penetrative expression of small dark berries and tight-grained oak overlies a fine, mouthwatering extract before extending towards a finely balanced and refreshing finish.
Rather flat and lifeless, with a dried-out presence of meaty, herbal fruit and leathery development wrapped in green-edged acids.
Forward and jammy, with a lively bouquet of mulberries, cassis and raspberries backed by sweet gamey notes and a hint of bell pepper. Initially quite juicy, it thins out down the palate but culminates in a firmer, if rather sinewy and metallic finish. While thereÕs some lively fruit, itÕs clearly well passed it best.
A long, lean and distinctively herbal cabernet that hasnÕt quite lived up to expectations. ThereÕs fresh mulberry/cassis fruit, smoky oak and some cigarboxy, leathery development, but the tannins are faintly metallic and the acids not as well integrated as they might be. I
Jammy and forward, with a confiture-like presence of cassis, redcurrant, blueberries, mulberries and sweet chocolate/cedar oak. Initially juicy, it dries out down a powdery spine, becoming leaner and ultimately rather short. The acids lack integration and appear obviously added.
Firm but finely balanced, with a deep, dark fragrance of olives, cassis, blackberries and plums backed by notes of minerals, violets and cedar/chocolate oak. Firm and powdery, still fractionally raw, itÕs long and deeply flavoured, with a persistent core of intense fruit, drying, powdery finish and a lingering note of soy.
Under and over-ripened, with a greenish, jammy aspect and a plastic-like note. Initially forward and juicy, it dries out, lacking mid-palate richness and weight.
Deepish, dark and powerful cabernet, perhaps less reflective of Coonawarra as a region, with dense, almost baked and jammy dark berry and cherry fruit knit with chocolatey oak, astringent tannins and backed by a mineral note. It lacks the structural legs and potential for complexity to develop into a great wine.
Complete, measured and stylish, itÕs scented with violets and dark fruits, cedary oak and some leathery development. Long and evenly paced, underpinned by fine, dusty tannins, its fine, supple palate culminates in a mouthwatering acidity and a hint of dried herbs. A classic cabernet.
Smooth and polished, with pristine, youthful and juicy flavours of cassis, mulberries, dark plums and fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by notes of dried herbs and supported by fine, dusty tannins, itÕs long and supple. Suggesting some under and overripe influences, itÕs just a little too green-edged for a higher rating.
Supple and measured, this elegant and still slightly closed cabernet is scented with dark berries, mulberries, plums and chocolatey oak with nuances of mint and menthol. ItÕs long and luscious but still restrained and finely balanced, with a mouthfilling presence of brightly lit fruit underpinned by dusty spine of pliant tannins.
Rather Bordeaux-like, with a dusty, tobaccoey bouquet backed nuances of cedar and bell pepper. Supple and restrained, with a gentle expression of fruit and cigarboxy development supported by a loose-knit firmness, itÕs developed and ready to enjoy.
