  • Woodlands Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Classically elegant, long and fullish to medium in weight, this stylish cabernet unfolds a cedary bouquet of cassis, mulberries, dark cherries and vanilla oak back by nuances of dried herbs. Supported by fine, drying tannins with a slatey feel, its polished expression of small red berries, cherries and plums reveals a hint of cigarbox but just lacks the genuine mid-palate strength for an even higher rating.

    Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay 2005
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Powerful, assertive, Montrachet-styled chardonnay with a smoky, bacony bouquet whose scents of lemon, grapefruit and white peach overlie cheesy, mineral and floral qualities. Sumptuous and smooth, it’s concentrated and complex, delivering a viscous, rich and just slightly awkward expression of grapefruit, lemon and tropical fruit supported by substantial new oak and finishing quite toasty and honeyed. It leaves a lingering impression of intense fruit and refreshing acids.

    Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay 2006
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Classically tight, focused, intensely flavoured, cleanly and precisely defined, with a presently rather closed expression of citrus and tropical fruit superbly crafted around fine, refreshing mineral acids. Backed by dusty, vanilla and clove-like oak, its lime/grapefruit fragrance reveals mineral undertones. Lean and pristine, its palate has focus and finesse, finishing long and clean, with a hint of lanolin. Keep it!

    Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay 2010
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Lacking its usual freshness, his deeply flavoured chardonnay is heavily worked and reveals pungent, sweaty reductive elements. Unusually tropical, slightly herbal aromas of grapefruit and pineapple reveal sauvignon blanc-like herbal undertones, with a hint of gooseberry. Its long, if rather simple palate of passionfruit, grapefruit and tropical notes finishes with some brittleness, but also a faint sweetness.

    Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay 2012
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Cloaking a powerful core of rather subdued fruit that will certainly explode with time in the bottle, it reveals a faintly meaty, smoky bouquet of faintly tropical, ruby grapefruit and pineapple-like notes backed by nutty, creamy oak plus nuances of ginger and nutmeg. Long and creamy, with deep flavours of grapefruit, peach and melon tightly contained by vanilla oak and bright lemony acids, it finishes with lingering nuances of smoked meats.

    Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay 2013
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Still slightly awkward and gangly, with assertive oak and malolactic influences that should settle over time, this heavily worked chardonnay has a buttery, faintly spicy bouquet of peach, melon and fresh, tight-grained vanilla oak. Its long, restrained palate of melon, stonefruit and grapefruit flavour extends round and creamy, building richness and weight towards its savoury finish.
