Classy regional Pyrenees shiraz laced with cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, scented with white and black pepper and built around sweet raspberry, cherry and minty cassis fruit. It’s smooth and creamy, tight and elegant, with attractive spicy oak and tight drying tannins.
Meaty, ripe and earthy aromas of dark plums and minty cassis are laced with spices and black pepper, sweet chocolate and vanilla oak. Lavishly fruited, with a long, vibrant palate of plum and almost jammy small red and black berry flavours with firm, fine tannin; it easily handles its 14.5% alcohol.
Spicy, meaty aromas of cooked plums and dark cherries with earthy undertones of cloves, cinnamon and pepper. Forward and then rather thin, its licorice-like flavours of slightly stressed blackcurrant and raspberry fruit do their best to handle some dirty, stale oak influences.
Smoky, vanilla and ashtray-like oak sits alongside deep, spicy aromas of blackberries, plums and currants, with a musky background of clove and cinnamon-like spiciness. Powerful, dark and chocolatey, its sumptuous, ultra-ripe and meaty palate of blackberries and plums is slightly overwhelmed by its rather charry and raw-edged complement of smoky oak, which tends to detract a little from the fruitÕs lusciousness and depth of flavour.
Quite porty and overcooked, with smoky, minty aromas of blackberries, dark plums, prunes and currants backed by assertive, cigarboxy and cedary oak. ItÕs warm and spirity, firm and drying, with spice cake, currant and pruney fruit rather reliant on a generous dollop of chocolate/vanilla oak for palate sweetness.
Made from stressed, faintly baked fruit, with a deep, oaky and confiture-like presence of black and red berries and blueberries that becomes slightly more pruney and currant-like towards the finish. A forward, generous and spicy, faintly minty regional shiraz from a very challenging season with good depth of deeply layered fruit backed by smoky, cedary and vanilla oak.
A rustic and deeply powerful, astringent shiraz that will eventually find balance and softness. Its peppery, spicy and meaty aromas of blackberry confiture and briar are knit with chocolate/cedary oak and backed by a hint of black tea, while its deeply ripened, slightly baked expression of briary plum, blueberry and blackberry flavours overlies a firm, slightly raw and drying backbone.
Showing suggestions of baked fruit and lacking genuine brightness, it reveals a faintly currant-like bouquet of blackberries and cassis backed by meaty, mocha notes and lifted by a wild peppery note. Long and lean, itÕs full to medium-bodied, with a deep presence of rich, fiery and meaty fruit entwined by sinewy tannins, finishing firm and drying.
