Vasse Felix Syrah (Formerly Shiraz) 2005
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Ripe and meaty, with bright red cherry, blackberry and tomato-like fruit backed by sweet smoky oak, suggestions of menthol and spice, plus leafy, herbal nuances. Full to medium in weight, it’s oaky and dark-fruited, but lacks genuine length and focus.

Vasse Felix Syrah (Formerly Shiraz) 2006
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

With plenty of rich, meaty and slightly jammy flavours of blackberries, mulberries and dark plums, this is a generously oaked but rather green-edged shiraz whose depth of fruit and smart chocolatey oak cannot conceal its more herbaceous undertones. Its fruit is slightly sour-edged, its tannins a little angular and it finishes with a slightly salty minerality.

Vasse Felix Syrah (Formerly Shiraz) 2009
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Peppery, musky and briary aromas of red berries and smoky cedar/vanilla oak are backed by minty, spicy, menthol-like notes. Smooth and supple, complex and polished, itÕs medium in weight, with a moderately intense forward presence of red berries and redcurrants. It becomes slight short and sappy, finishing with greenish edges and without great conviction.

    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very stylish, this long, ripe and finely balanced shiraz has a sweet, fragrant and faintly meaty bouquet of blackberries, cassis, dark plums and briar overlying nuances of animal hide, musky spices and white pepper. ItÕs smooth and juicy, with penetrative flavours of small dark berries and plums aptly measured with tight-knit oak and underpinned by fine, pliant tannins. It finishes rather taut and focused, with a brightly lit acidity.

Vasse Felix Syrah (Formerly Shiraz) 2012
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Long and gentle, this savoury and rather Old Worldly shiraz has a dusty white pepper fragrance of redcurrants, blood plums and blackberries overlying restrained cedar/chocolate oak plus delicate nuances of dried herbs and peppermint. Rather meaty and leathery, its gentle core of black, blue and red berry flavours builds elegantly and steadily towards a drying, earthy and meaty finish.

Spicy and savoury, with floral, meaty and peppery aromas of dark plums, blackberries, fennel and cola. Long and elegant, with an almost sour-edged presence of dark berry flavour and charcuterie notes supported by fine, drying tannins and wrapped in a feisty acidity, itÕs long, measured and complete.
