An open, straightforward red of length and softness, but not much in the complexity department. Its fresh confection-like aromas of plums and red berries are balanced with cedar/vanilla oak, while its palate is long, generous and a little jammy. Good commercial quality.
Rather herbaceous blend with snow pea-like aromas of raspberry and plum confection over nuances of cherries and menthol. Forward and weedy, its lean palate of under-ripe fruit finishes thin and sappy.
An elegant and brightly flavoured shorter-term cabernet blend with a sweet, slightly cooked and oaky aroma of menthol-like fruit, cedar and vanilla. Smooth and creamy, its moderately full palate is intense and lively, lacking great depth but pleasingly tight and well structured.
Delicate floral and cedary aromas of black plums, cherries and mocha oak reveal capsicum-like herbal undertones. Full to medium weight, it’s long, smooth and supple with black berries, plums and cherry fruit firmly framed by pliant tannins. Elegant and harmonious, with a lingering core of flavour that almost conceals its thread of greenness.
Rather varnishy and volatile, with cooked, stewy fruit and ordinary oak backed by a firm, drying extract of raw tannin. Lacks length and focus.
Heady and floral, with a perfume of violets, dark cherries, cassis and cedar/vanilla oak backed by suggestions of dried herbs, this fine-grained and loose-knit blend depends rather excessively on its chocolate/mocha oak to smooth out its slightly short, thin, soupy and green-edged palate.
Rather plump and juicy for this vintage, but likely to ease back with elegance and style. Scented with a lightly dusty bouquet of black and red berries, plums and cherries backed by cedar/vanilla oak and undertones of dried herbs. Long, smooth and supple, with a loose-knit undercarriage of pliant tannins and harmoniously integrated cedary oak, it marries ripeness and elegance, finishing with freshness and balance.
