    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A dusty, savoury regional classic from Tyrrell’s. Its lightly smoky and toasty melon aromas reveal some complexity and development, with subtle bound sulphide influences. Youthful and zesty, its vibrant melon and lemon fruit qualities precede a lingering nutty and savoury finish of remarkable vitality and freshness. Absolutely incredible value.

Tyrrell’s Single Vineyard Stevens Semillon 2001
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very round and generous despite a mere 10% alcohol by volume, this juicy and buttery wine is just a little cooked and flat. It offers a fragrance of lemon, lime, rosemary and honeydew melon fruit developing toasty, buttery marmalade-like influences. Its creamy, buttery palate is rather unusual, and it looks to be developing quite quickly.

    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Long, taut and austere, with a refreshing cut of vibrant acidity that neatly punctuates its rather chalky, lemony and melon-like fruit, this traditional expression of Hunter semillon offers generous, if slightly candied fruit that finishes with typical length and focus. Scented with lemon zest, it reveals a pleasing thread of mineral complexity.

Stylish and focused, this Hunter benchmark has a complex perfume of honeydew melon, lime juice, white flowers and toasty, spicy undertones. ItÕs very long, tight and chalky, with pristine youthful lemony flavour that finishes long and focused, with just an immature hint of confection. Cellar with confidence.

Tyrrell’s Single Vineyard Stevens Semillon 2006
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A delightful maturing semillon, already round, smooth and complex. Scented with a fragrance of melon and bathpowder, itÕs smoky and mineral, long and generous. It delivers a fine, trim line of fruit over a briny minerality from front to finish, culminating in an impression of toast and butter plus a fresh, lemony acidity.

Tyrrell’s Single Vineyard Stevens Semillon 2007
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Complex, round and creamy, now developing toasty, waxy complexity, itÕs scented with a floral bouquet of honeydew melon, grilled nuts and a hint of mineral. Almost opulent for a Hunter semillon, extending down the palate with genuine viscosity and texture, itÕs typically melon-like and tobaccoey, but also quite funky, meaty and savoury. Just lacks the tightness and focus for an even higher rating.

A floral bouquet of apricot, peach and melon backed by nuances of lemon rind and tobacco is now beginning to reveal some toasty, waxy development. Underpinned by a fine chalkiness, its juicy, forward palate of stonefruit flavours finishes with a fresh, lively and lemony acidity. ItÕs affected by botrytis, but makes a fresh, lovely early drinking wine.
