A typically firm, controlled and tight-knit Aberfeldy, powerfully flavoured yet lean and fine-grained. Its concentrated fruit is expressed in almost ethereal aromas of highly spiced, musky, earthy redcurrants and blackcurrants, before a deep, savoury palate of piercing intensity. Hints of eucalypt and mint underpin its Clare origins, while carefully monitored creamy oak influences of mocha, cedar and chocolate reflect artful handling.

An elegant, leaner expression of Clare Valley shiraz whose dusty, minty aromas of violets, sage, cassis and raspberries are supported by the fine-grained new American oak. Smooth and silky, its long and lingering expression of vibrant small berry flavour and chocolate oak builds slowly on the palate, culminating in a firm grip of powdery tannins.

  • Tim Adams Aberfeldy Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Musky, spicy and deeply scented, this exotically perfumed and floral shiraz is scented with violets and sweet small berries, over nuances of peppermint and vanilla. It’s long, supple and ethereal, with a tightly focused core of fruit seamlessly integrated with sweet, tight-kit oak and velvet-like tannins. It finishes with lingering nuances of licorice, mint and dried herbs, plus a suggestion of eucalypt. Should flesh out nicely, always remaining fine and elegant.

  • Tim Adams Aberfeldy Shiraz 2003
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A classic Australian shiraz; very ripe and assertively oaked, but presented with excellent concentration and balance. Intense aromas of cranberries, cassis, violets and blood plums overlie dusty mocha/dark chocolate/vanilla oak. There’s an undercurrent of meatiness, black pepper and dusty clove-like spiciness. Sumptuous, smooth and creamy, its pristine and palate-staining flavours of cassis, raspberries, mulberries and dark plum knit tightly with sweet mocha/cedar oak and smooth tannins, finishing with lingering notes of licorice.

  • Tim Adams Aberfeldy Shiraz 2004
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deeply ripened and luscious, this spicy and powerfully concentrated shiraz reveals a heady perfume of jujube-like blackberries, dark plums and cassis backed by clove, cinnamon, white pepper and assertive dark chocolate/vanilla oak. Its luscious palate of searingly intense dark berry fruit and polished, creamy vanilla oak is framed by firm but smooth tannins, finishing long and briary, with suggestions of mint and mineral.
