Very ripe and oaky, with a meaty, spicy bouquet of blackberries and plums almost lost under a swathe of smoky vanilla and dark chocolate oak. The palate is especially charry and old-fashioned, with deeply ripened dark fruits somewhat subdued by polished mocha and smoked oyster-like cooperage.
A meaty, spicy old-fashioned Australian red whose peppery, Bovril-like aromas of bloody, densely packed plum and blackberry-like fruit reveals briary, mocha-like undertones. Steeped in ripe, luscious flavours of sweet red and black berries and plums knit with assertive chocolate/cedar/vanilla oak, itÕs framed by firm but pliant tannins, finishing with power and length, if not perhaps yet charm and balance.
Smooth and oaky, this medium-term shiraz has a polished, meaty and mocha-like bouquet of blackberries and dark plums backed by charry, chocolatey oak and nuances of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. ItÕs jammy and fractionally overripe, with assertive toasty, treacle-like vanilla oak lending palate sweetness to a slightly baked and hollow presence of blackberry, plum and currant flavour.
Firm, deeply flavoured and densely packed, with a minty bouquet of cassis, dark olives and blood plums tightly knit with fresh cedar/chocolate oak and revealing meaty, herbal undertones. ItÕs sumptuous and deeply ripened, with a long, smooth and seamless palate whose faintly raisined, meaty plum-like flavours and polished oak are framed by a firm, drying tannins. It lacks great balance and integration but should age well.
An affordable Kiwi sauvignon blanc, but perhaps as you expect it. With some creaminess and chalky texture, this expression from Hawkes Bay delivers a punchy presence of gooseberries, lychees and lemon zest with a hint of passionfruit and a scent of yellow flowers. It’s long, clean and dry, with a refreshing finish; perfect drinking outside over summer, with or without a meal.
Complex and savoury, with a musky, floral perfume of bright red and blue berries, small red flowers and fiery eastern spices with earthy undertones. Medium in weight, it’s long, smooth and supple, with an evenly paced palate wrapped in fine, powdery tannins, culminating in a licorice-like, savoury finish.
