    $33.00

Juicy and forward, with a pleasing length of flavour, this easy and early-drinking cabernet blend has a bright, intense aromas of cassis, raspberries, dark cherries and fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by suggestions of dried herbs. Smooth and juicy, it’s a fraction warm and spirity and while easy and approachable, does lack a genuine backbone of tannin. It finishes with lingering notes of fennel and cassis.

  • BlackJack Cabernet Merlot 2023
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    $33.00

An elegant, gentle, refined and faintly minty cabernet merlot from evenly ripened fruit, but clearly from a cooler season. It’s medium to fullish in weight, with a pleasing presence of cassis and dark plum flavours, gently oaked and framed by fine, sandpapery tannins.

  • BlackJack Chortle’s Edge Shiraz 2023

    $26.00

Lightly spicy, lightly oaked dark-fruited shiraz with pleasing forward depth of flavour but not massive length. There’s some powdery tannins and dusty oak, and the wine should drink well over the next 2-3 years.

  • BlackJack Mr Ramoy Shiraz Blend 2021
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $85.00

An elegant, medium-weight savoury and supple red blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon from the wonderful 2021 vintage in Bendigo, Victoria. Musky and floral, laced with scents of violets, pepper and briar, its deep aromas of cassis, redcurrants and blackberries knit tightly with fresh cedar/vanila oak. Supported by fine, loose-knit and drying tannins, it’s long and restrained, finishing with some style and balance. With some slightly better oak it would have rated even higher.

  • BlackJack Shiraz 2001
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Spicy, vibrant central Victorian shiraz, whose peppery aromas of cinnamon and cloves provide complexity and character to the brightness of its raspberry and plum fruits and its creamy coconut oak. Soft and approachable, with a good length of vibrant, minty small black and red berry flavours along its velvet-smooth palate. Finishes with fine tannins and hints of licorice.

  • BlackJack Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Lacking its customary structure; rather forward and herbal. Perfumed with spicy nuances of violets, red berries and white pepper, with a moderately full and smooth palate whose lively small fruits are framed by rather greenish, herbal edges. Could have used the weight of Block 6 of the same year!

  • BlackJack Shiraz 2003
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Floral aromas of cassis, mulberries and plums are both minty and lightly stewy, with undertones of prunes and currants. Sweet toasty chocolate-like oak adds to the wine’s richness and texture, slightly smoothing over some slightly meaty and rather cooked fruit. Soft and supple, finishing fractionally dilute.

  • BlackJack Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 88/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Smoky aromas of dark chocolate, dark plums, blackberries and cedary oak precede a sweetly oaked and slightly jammy, juicy palate. Backed by sweet coconut ice-like oak, its approachable palate of confiture-like of raspberry, cassis and blackberry flavour is framed by smooth, silky tannins, finishing long and minty. It would rate more highly if not for a medicinal oak-derived aspect.

  • BlackJack Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very approachable, pretty, sweet little shiraz whose spicy red berry fragrance of cloves and white pepper is backed by sweet vanilla and cedary oak. Its smooth, brightly lit palate of raspberries, cassis, blackberries and chocolate/vanilla oak is framed by soft, pliant but slightly crunchy tannin, finishing with nuances of licorice and fennel.
