Early-maturing and green-edged with a light, earthy and faintly meaty bouquet of red berries and plums backed by gently cedary oak and herbal notes. Initially juicy and sweetly fruited with flavours of red berries and plums, it becomes slightly sappy and metallic as it extends towards a rather angular finish.
An older, rustic style of cabernet whose meaty, leathery bouquet of delicate red berries and blood plums overlies a faint earthiness. ItÕs forward and jammy, with a plush presence of faintly sweet redcurrant and cassis flavours supported by a fine, pliant powdery spine. Finely balanced, itÕs charmingly long and complete and over time is likely to evolve more cigarboxy and meaty complexity.
The best wine under this label for many a year is gentle and fine-grained, with deep flavours and a finely balanced structure. Scented with earthy aromas of cassis, mulberries, fresh cedar/vanilla oak backed by suggestions of dried herbs and red flowers, itÕs evenly paced and supported by fine, bony tannins. Its deep, luscious core of small berry and plum flavour knits tightly with chocolatey oak, smoothly building flavour and firmness towards its long and measured finish.
Sumptuously and deeply ripened, but with the brightness and vivaciousness that derives from a later season such as 2015, this mouthfilling and supple wine delivers luscious cassis, dark plum, and mulberry flavour backed by chocolatey, cedary oak and a fine, pliant spine of loose-knit tannins. ItÕs smooth and approachable, but will certainly develop in the bottle.
Very reductive, earthy red with dusty, leafy aromas of red and black berries over sweet cedary oak. Forward and slightly jammy, it presents a soft, almost plump middle of sweet berry fruit before a drying, finely astringent finish with herbal undertones. Lacks its customary palate weight.
A charmingly restrained, vibrant and rustic blend of disarming openness and honesty, ready to drink now. Its gamey fragrance of sweet red berries, cooked plums and restrained oak overlies herbaceous suggestions of menthol and musk, while its smooth and finely balanced palate of peppery fruit and dusty, herbal influences is framed by a tightly knit spine of firm but supple tannins. It finishes with lingering cassis/mulberry fruit with undertones of licorice and cloves.
Dusty, herbal aromas of violets, blackcurrants, raspberries, plums and sweet vanilla oak are backed by slightly cooked undertones of currants and tea leaves. Revealing both under and overripe influences, the palate is moderately rich and long, with herbal, dusty and currant-like characters framed by pliant but slightly sappy tannins and backed by secondary oak. The fruit is beginning to show signs of breaking up.
A charming older style red whose spicy aromas of slightly baked small red berries, currants and vanilla oak overlie nuances of cloves and cinnamon. Smooth and restrained, its palate of reserved but lingering fruit and moderately firm tannin provides structure and substance. It just needs time to develop more complexity.
