  • Main Ridge Estate Half Acre Pinot Noir 2018
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

By some margin the most textural, savoury and structural wine released under this label, here is a deeply layered, mineral and musky pinot whose bouquet of black cherries, dark plums and five spice is underpinned by fragrant oak, raspberries and a whiff of citrus oil. Initially luscious and plush in its delivery of fruit, it becomes long and mineral, with a drying, firmish spine of gravelly tannins underpinning its layers of intriguing, vivacious fruit, before extending long and austere towards a firmly defined finish of dryness and drive.

    $95.00

Perhaps the finest pinot yet made from this site, it reveals a heady perfume of rose petals, dark cherries and cedary oak with suggestions of cinnamon, potpourri and musky spice. It’s piercing and penetrative, with succulent layers of plush dark cherry, plum and berry flavours underpinned by crunchy, chalky tannins and culminating in a lingering savoury finish suggestive of minerals and red licorice. Supremely elegant and pristine, it hides its power behind a veneer of delicacy in a way that will appeal to serious pinot drinkers.

    $100.00

Another top release from this famous site, whose reputation continues to rise. A dark, heady bouquet of rose petals, dark cherries, mulberries and blueberries reveals undertones of faintly smoky oak and violets plus a whiff of citrus oil. Medium in weight, it’s supple and supremely elegant, with a translucently clear core of small red, black and blue forest fruits and cherries, extending with truly exceptional length down a firm, slatey spine before an artfully balanced finish of sour-edged flavour that will become more savoury with time.

  • Main Ridge Estate Half Acre Pinot Noir 2024

    $110.00

Powerfully scented with dark cherries, rose petals, musky spice, red licorice and cedar, this classically proportioned and medium-bodied Red Hill pinot expresses a powerful core of fruit and flavour. Supported by very fine and drying tannins, it fills the mouth with intense, translucently pure fruit knit with classy, gentle oak, finishing with exceptional length and drive, with lingering nuances of red licorice, red cherries and a hint of menthol that’s unlikely to be evident within 2-3 years.

  • Main Ridge Estate Pinot Meunier 2004
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

An exceptional wine from this variety, whose spicy floral perfume of cherries, musk and cloves is backed by restrained vanilla oak. Smooth and supple, it’s deeply flavoured yet only medium in body, presenting intense if not hugely complex flavours of cherries and plums supported by a fine-grained structure that builds on the palate. It finishes long and spicy, with a lingering core of fruit, a fine firmness and a hint of licorice.
