From a lighter year, this wine lacks sufficient fruit to counter its malolactic flavours and cheesy leesy influences. Now appearing rather hollow and flat, it is well past its best but did make an attractive earlier-drinking wine.
A very wet vintage produced a juicy, if slightly angular chardonnay with citrusy and apricot flavours and leesy and oaky complexity. Very well made given the season.
Its massive proportions and breadth reflect a hot season whose exceptionally ripe chardonnay is developing with pronounced butterscotch and toffee characters.
Its delicate mealy fragrance of lemon blossom, melon and pear fruit precedes a long, finely structured wine whose creamy, supple palate is pierced by a core of bright melon and peachy fruit. Careful integration of spicy oak and malolactic flavours has resulted in this tightly balanced and reserved long-term wine.
A fine, supple, and refreshing chardonnay whose developing and toasty bouquet of peach, citrus and honeysuckle reveals nuances of buttery oak. Smooth and unctuous, its concentrated palate of vibrant, intensely ripened stonefruit flavours and citrus peel culminate in a lingering finish of zesty acids. It’s building weight and richness, but has retained its youthful freshness, tightness and focus.
Plump, juicy Peninsula chardonnay with a youthful aroma of tangy citrus fruit, tobacco, green cashew and slightly varnishy oak that should come together after more time in the bottle. Round and generous, it’s long and stylish, with lingering citrus, melon and tropical fruit flavours tightly knit with butterscotch and oatmeal-like complexity, before a lingering finish punctuated by soft, refreshing acids.
A fine, elegant and deeply flavoured chardonnay whose pristine, spotless perfume of citrus/melon fruit and lightly dusty vanilla oak reveals a hint of spice and a funky whiff of leesy undertone. Richly fruited but extremely stylish, its vibrant core of melon, cumquat and tangerine is supported by perfectly integrated oak, butterscotch and nuances of clove. Long and savoury, with a lingering fruit presence framed by refreshing acids, it should develop very well.
A luxuriant and deeply flavoured chardonnay whose concentrated fragrance of pristine melon, citrus and tropical aromas are tightly knit with sweet, buttery and vanilla oak, which is also the source of some underlying clove and cinnamon-like complexity. It’s voluptuous without a hint of over-ripeness, with lingering melon and pineapple flavour culminating in a tight and refreshing finish of citrusy acids. Wonderful balance and integration.
