Lightly spicy aromas of grapefruit lemon and yellow flowers backed by vanilla oak cloves cinnamon and coriander precede a generous nutty and handsomely oaked palate whose mouthfilling core of fruit extends long and textural with some firmness towards an finely defined finish While it dries out marginally down the palate lacking its typical brightness and verve its a fine wine that doesnt quite hit the vineyards potential
Light faintly smoky aromas of grapefruit and lemon rind peach and melon reveal underlying suggestions of creamy vanilla oak clove and ginger Underpinned by a fine chalkiness its translucently clear palate of uber-reserved fruit is slightly overawed by vanillabubblegum oak and finishes with a taut austere acidity It lacks the labels customary depth of fruit
Very elegant measured and tightly focused this generous and profoundly layered chardonnay reveals a fruit-focused bouquet of grapefruit white peach ginger and coriander backed by suggestions of vanilla oak grilled nuts and nougat Its long and translucently clear with flavours of grapefruit candied lemon rind ginger and creamy vanilla oak extending with richness and roundness towards a lingering finish of apple pear and citrus Wrapped in lemony acids and leaving impressions of chalkiness and minerality its a wine that relies less on winemaking input and more upon fruit quality
Initially round unctuous and juicy this assertive young chardonnay reveals a creamy bouquet of grapefruit white peach assertive smoky vanilla oak and undertones of nougat mineral wheat flour and oyster shell It’s rich soft and impactful with a translucently clear presence of citrus pineapple and tropical fruit flavour but as it moves down the palate it becomes aggressively phenolic and drying with rather a jarring and discordant acidity and a snappy brittleness that is more angular than refreshing It lacks the seamless length of the great Leeuwins of the past
Faintly spicy, creamy aromas of peach and nectarine are backed by slightly raw vanilla oak. It’s initially round and generous, with a creamy core of peach and melon backed by suggestions of citrus, but does not extend with genuine length and drive down its chalky spine, finishing with a drying, splintery aspect and some awkward acidity.
