  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2001
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Meaty, dark and pruney aromas of currants, blackberries and plums with sweet chocolate and vanilla oak. Smooth, black and briary, its sumptuous palate reveals a fine depth of plush, velvet-like texture and concentrated licorice and cassis-like fruit. There’s a faint suggestion of overripeness, but the wine has plenty of richness and substance.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Silky, smooth and pristine modern Barossa shiraz whose smoky, creamy fragrance of cassis, dark plums and blueberries is lifted by spicy nuances of cloves and cinnamon and some carefully measured chocolate-like American oak. Round and generous, it’s a fruit bombshell, steeped in intense flavours of blackberries and cassis matched by some rather voluptuous and creamy, mocha oak.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2003
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Smooth, elegant and approachable Barossa shiraz with a ripe, slightly jammy aroma of violets and blackcurrants, plums and raspberries enhanced by a restrained expression of chocolate/vanilla oak and spicy nuances of cinnamon and cloves. Long and silky, its vibrant expression of dark berries and plum does reveal a currant-like aspect, but retains brightness and vitality. Supported by lightly smoky chocolate/mocha oak and a firmish, fine-grained backbone.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2004
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A delightful Barossa shiraz whose deep, dark and spicy aromas of plums, blackberries and redcurrants are backed by nuances of white pepper, spice and a meaty shade of fine-grained oak. Velvet smooth, luscious and seamless, it’s long, gamey and dark-fruited, saturated with pristine but meaty flavours of cassis and dark plums handsomely supported by chocolate/vanilla oak and framed by a firm, cut of silky tannins.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Like many 2005 shirazes, it’s firm, well structured and elegant, but has a rather overcooked, meaty and currant-like nature. With plenty of smoky, meaty artefact and charry oak, its jammy expression of plums and small berries overlies spice cake-like notes of cloves and cinnamon. It’s well-handled tannins are polished and pliant.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

An elegant, supple and polished shiraz whose meaty, mocha-like bouquet of dark plums and blackberries, cloves and cinnamon is lifted by a whiff of white pepper. Medium in weight, its smooth, brightly lit palate of berry/plum fruit and lightly toasty vanilla oak is underpinned by fine, dusty and grainy tannins, finishing fresh and lively.

  • St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2010
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Elegant, deeply flavoured and likely to age with pleasing complexity. Its heady, floral and briary aromas of cassis, raspberries, redcurrants and boysenberries are knit with fresh chocolate/vanilla oak and backed by a light mintiness. Long and supple, its measured, evenly fruited palate of sour-edged fruit, rather smooth and polished oak and firmish, crunchy tannins finishes with lingering flavour but lacks a little focus and tightness.
