A fragrance of white and black pepper, violets and sweet cedar/chocolate/vanilla oak lifts its deep aromas of cassis, blackberries and plums. ItÕs smooth and chocolatey, medium, to full in weight, with a gentle, but deeply flavoured presence of dark, briary fruit underpinned by fine, powdery tannins. It finishes savoury, with pleasing length.
A stylish, elegant shiraz with a deeply layered, spicy, musky perfume of small black and red berries, tightly knit chocolate/mocha oak backed by nuances of mineral and animal hide. Cushioned by fine, dusty tannins, itÕs smooth and supple, dripping with intense small berry and dark plum flavours, before finishing with brightness, freshness and lingering spicy fruit.
Remarkable for its price, this classically medium-bodied Coonawarra shiraz has a heady, musky bouquet whose vibrant, peppery aromas of cassis, dark plums and berries knits tightly with fresh, faintly charry mocha-like oak. ItÕs velvet smooth, long and elegant, with a charmingly supple presence of vibrant, spicy fruit, gentle tannins and racy acids, finishing with genuine persistence and style. I donÕt know how Wynns does this for the price, since this wine could easily justify a $35 price tag in todayÕs market. Surely itÕs the best value red under $20 in Australia today?
