A ripe, firm wine with strength and future. Fragrant, but slightly cooked cassis and plum fruit is given full treatment in cedary chocolate oak, developing a firm, rich palate whose creamy texture is deeply flavoured, finishing firm and tight. Spicy, minty complexity gives distinct regional character.

Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

An old-fashioned Australian red whose deep aromas of dark, jammy plums, olives and currants reveal minty undertones and some herbal, under-ripe qualities. Now tiring and losing freshness, its palate retains some forward plum and berry fruit, but is clearly drying out, exposing some strong, firm tannins beneath.

    $60.00

Full-bodied, slightly unpolished and lacking sophistication, it reveals a rather meaty and greenish bouquet whose ripe, jammy aromas of berries, plums and cedar/vanilla oak are backed by suggestions of capsicum. Assertively backed by chocolate/cedary oak, itÕs rich small berry and plum flavours are backed by hints of green bean, but knit tightly with a firm, drying powdery extract. Not entirely, genuinely ripe.

A sumptuous, densely packed and slightly old-fashioned cellar style whose slightly meaty, gamey aromas of dark plums and berries are backed by smoky cedar/vanilla oak and minty nuances of menthol. Saturated with deeply ripened flavours of cassis, dark berries and plums, itÕs long, firm and drying, tightly knit with assertive new mocha oak and with an intense enough core of fruit to handle the long term.

Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
    Jeremy’s score 86/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Rather baked, overcooked and porty, with a smoky, toasty bouquet of under and over-ripened fruit backed by minty, greenish, snow pea-like aspects and assertive cedar/vanilla oak. Initially quite jammy, it offers a slightly porty presence of juicy cassis, and dark plums, but then thins out, becoming more metallic and currant-like down the palate, losing fruit sweetness.

Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Dusty, floral and herbaceous, with a violet-like scent of fresh red and blue berries, cedar/vanilla oak and dusty cabernet undertones. Slightly green-edged and hollow, itÕs full to medium-bodied, with an underswell of herbal and menthol notes beneath its forward, jammy berry/plum flavours. Lacks stuffing and fruit sweetness.

Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Time is needed for this to settle into a meaty, leathery and rustic style. Its meaty, minty and assertively oaked aromas of cassis, dark plums, chocolate and graphite overlie a hint of iodide. ItÕs sumptuous and powerful, firm and blocky, with a rich, deeply concentrated core of fiery, bloody fruit wrapped in layers of firm, drying tannins. Keep it!
