A very rich, profound wine with deep, layers of earthy, spicy and briary fruit. Its profound, smoky bouquet of sweet red berries, cherry kernels, raisins, figs and roast beetroot opens up slowly to reveal sweet floral notes and a hint of liqueur chocolates. ItÕs sumptuous and thickly fruited, with a lingering, sweet core of red and black cherries and berries, but is also fine and restrained, finishing dry and savoury with a tight balance and focus.

Heady, wild, floral and essential pinot, with a deep, alluring bouquet of rose petals, black and red cherries knit with fresh spicy oak and revealing meaty, herbal undertones. ItÕs long, sumptuous and assertive, with a succulent, sappy and silky palate underpinned by a surprisingly firm, fine-grained and chalky spine of drying cherry kernel tannins. Its deep cherry/berry flavours knit tightly with oak and herbal notes, finishing long and persistent, with a refreshing acidity. ItÕs building scent and density as it matures.

Tapanappa Foggy Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

An exceptional wine likely to build along classical lines. Its complex, smoky bouquet of red rose petals, dark cherries and toasty vanilla oak reveals nuances of beetroot, rhubarb and five spice plus a whiff of dusty stalkiness. Long and elegant, with a powdery, fine-grained chassis beneath its translucently bright flavours of sweet juicy berries and cherries, it finishes savoury and very finely balanced, with remarkable length and fresh acidity.

A fresh, faintly herbal bouquet of sweet cherries, red berries and tight-knit vanilla oak with undertones of menthol and spearmint precede a smooth, generous and almost viscous palate whose brightly lit fruit is supported by fine, pliant but assertive tannins. It already reveals some evolution of meaty, duck fat-like complexity, and has the length, balance and structure to flesh out considerably with time.

Tapanappa Foggy Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Supple and seductive, with a deeply layered, earthy and faintly meaty fragrance of red and black cherries, fine-grained cedary oak and nuances of dried herbs lifted by sweet aromas of rose petals. ItÕs luscious and velvety, with a smooth, unctuous palate of pristine, vibrant fruit and smoky, cedary oak underpinned by ultra-fine, willowy tannins, finishing with herbal notes, savoury complexity and a refreshingly nervy acidity.

Tapanappa Foggy Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Despite the earliness and warmth of the season, this is a beautifully structured, textured and elegant pinot whose dusty, faintly herbal and distinctively floral perfume of red cherries, raspberries and strawberries knits tightly with fresh cedar/vanilla oak and reveals and underswell of smoky, tobaccoey complexity. ItÕs long and complete, with a measured length of spotlessly pure fruit and fine, chalky Chambertin-like tannins but still unfolds fleshiness and opulence. Finishing with drive and power, itÕs the classic pinot clichŽ Ð the iron fist in the velvet glove.
