Slightly awkward and disjointed in its youth, this rather wild and funky pinot has everything it needs to appear quite impressive over the medium term. Its unusual confectionary-like aromas of raspberries, cherries and quince reveal smoky, charcuterie-like undertones. Its savoury palate of plum and maraschino cherries is quite fine and restrained, but is underpinned by firm, drying bony tannins. Give it time.
Assertive and well structured, this stylish and well-mannered pinot has a spicy, herbal and meaty bouquet of dark plums, blueberries, dark cherries and raspberries lifted by scents of blue flowers, mint and menthol. ItÕs long, smooth and supple, with a punchy, tomatoey presence of redcurrant fruit underpinned by fine, crunchy tannins, finishing with fresh acids. A little too tomatoey for a higher rating.
Stylish, elegant, medium-bodied and translucently clear, this lively but laid-back chardonnay unfolds a delicate perfume of grapefruit, white peach, coriander, ginger and vanilla oak lifted by scents of yellow flowers. ItÕs long and gentle, with pleasing drive and suppleness, extending with charm and elegance over an assertive chalkiness, finishing with a lively, bitey acidity.
Ripe, round and juicy, with sweet peach, melon and grapefruit flavour and faintly smoky oak.
Fresh aromas of peach, grapefruit, melon and spicy vanilla oak overlie suggestions of creamy, nutty yeast-derived complexity. Round and generous, with a pleasing core of stonefruit and citrus flavour, itÕs long and smooth, with a lingering finish and a refreshing acidity.
Long, supple and varietal, this pristine medium-bodied pinot lacks the depth and structure to develop the complexity for a higher score. Fresh, faintly smoky scents of rose petals, tomato stalk and redcurrants backed by cedar/vanilla oak precede a long, smooth and mouthfilling palate underpinned by fine, dusty tannins.
Faintly spicy, with a herbal and relatively simple expression of raspberries and red cherries backed by cedary oak and fine, powdery tannins. Luscious, juicy and approachable.
Brightly lit, luscious and mouthfilling young pinot whose pristine fruit and faintly smoky oak combine to deliver a fragrant rose petal and red cherry perfume, notes of five spice and raspberry. ItÕs long and smooth, extending over a fine, grainy spine towards a fresh, lively finish of tightly balanced acidity. Ready to enjoy.
