Richly fruited, with a deeply ripened aroma of dark plums, raisins, meaty notes and blackberries, this is a genuinely varietal wine whose plump, juicy flavours extend down a finely drying spine towards a slightly attenuated finish of moderate length.
An unctuous, delicious and densely packed red whose heady bouquet of dark flowers, dark chocolates, briar and licorice is lifted by scents of musk stick and Turkish Delight. Medium to fullish in weight, its mouthfilling core of flavour drives long and smooth down a crunchy spine of chalky tannins, finishing with a refreshing acidity.
A smart, sophisticated and savoury expression of this classic blend. A dusty, mineral fragrance of cassis, dark plums and cedary oak overlies fiery earthy notes. ItÕs exceptionally long and stylish, with a charming core of vivacious berry/plum fruit that reveals a hint of prune as it finishes without a hint of jamminess. Supported by a fine, slatey backbone, it finishes with balance, remarkable persistence and savoury aspects. Value? Off the charts.
A long-term classic from the Barossa whose ripe, voluminous aromas of cassis, redcurrants and cedar/cigarboxy oak reveal notes of chocolate and plum. It’s long and polished, with a smooth, unctuous core of powerful shiraz with its eastern spice and textural cabernet with its cassis and mulberry flavour, extending down a fine-grained spine of firm tannins before finishing with drive and persistence. It’s ok to enjoy now but still very youthful, so try to give it a chance in the cellar.
A developing riesling, with a pale to medium hue of golden green, it reveals a toasty bouquet of lime, lemon and bath salt minerality backed by suggestions of green apple skin and pear. Its vibrant, textural and schisty palate delivers racy flavours of lime, lemon and baked apple backed by developed nuances of toast and butter that culminate in a mouthwatering finish of zesty acids amid a core of flavour that extends long and persistent.
Plush, but measured and finely balanced, this sumptuous shiraz handles its 15.5% with ease. Its heady bouquet of black and blue fruits, cedar/chocolate oak, violets and five spice precedes a vibrant, handsomely ripened palate whose deep, impactful core of cassis, blackberries and dark plums integrates easily with fresh new oak and overlies a crunchy mineral spine. It drives with measured, elegant style towards a drying, savoury finish, revealing some meaty complexity and a charming balance. It has decades ahead.
