  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1994
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Beginning to reveal some genuine maturity, this complex and deeply layered semillon has acquired plenty of richness and depth. Its smoky, meaty bouquet reveals nuances of buttered toast and dried flowers over rich notes of melon-like fruit. Its intense, exceptionally long core of assertive flavour drives onwards to a savoury, slightly earthy finish tightly wound around a fabulously taut acidity.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1995
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Marvellous developing Hunter semillon caught between youth and maturity, with pungent, complex and buttery aromas of toasty matchstick, melon and citrus fruit, and a classically long, savoury and toasty palate whose tightly focused lime/melon fruit finishes with fine citrusy acids.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1996
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Classic, unusually ripe and rather a wild and funky expression of Tyrrell’s Hunter benchmark white. Fresh toasty melon and citrus aromas, hints of butter, tobacco and wet mineral precede a vibrant, creamy palate whose bright core of fruit carries a spread of creamy, earthy complexity and character. Long and powerful.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1997
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Restrained, late-maturing Hunter semillon of surprising depth and texture given its meagre 10.4% alcohol. It reveals developed complex nutty aromas of toast, butter and honeysuckle, with underlying scents of honeydew melon and tobacco leaf. Long and dry, with a remarkable depth of flavour and texture, it’s toasty and persistent, with waxy complexity and a refreshing lemony finish.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1998
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Classically shaped and especially taut, tight and youthful, this complex and refreshing semillon has plenty of development ahead. Its smoky, toasty and buttery bouquet of honeydew melon and brioche precedes an astonishing round and juicy palate (given its alcoholic strength of a mere 10.5%) whose lime juice, melon and lemon sherbet flavours culminate in a chalky, powdery finish of freshness and vitality.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 1999

Long and seamless, this slowly maturing Hunter semillon has a faintly buttery and toasty bouquet of melon and citrus, backed by delicate floral aromas. Its smooth and savoury palate reveals a deep core of fruit with tobacco-like and chalky undertones. Exceptionally tight and focused, it finishes with refreshingly tangy acidity.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 2000
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A more forward, sumptuous and slightly candied Vat 1 from a warmer season. Its restrained and still rather closed and dusty bouquet of lemon rind and sage has a spicy and slightly toasty element. Long and earthy, its elegant palate is smooth and restrained, with lemon drop-like fruit finishing tangy and refreshing, with a rather chalky, sherbet-like impression. Quite phenolic and textured.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 2002
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Long, smooth and savoury, with a lightly toasty and honeyed fragrance of lemon and melon, waxy floral nuances and smoky, meaty undertones. ItÕs surprisingly juicy and generous, but doesnÕt sacrifice any shape and elegance, culminating in a savoury nougat-like finish with lingering lemony fruit and suggestions of tobacco. A classic regional style.

  • Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 2003
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Restrained and textured Ð likely to become quite pungent and smoky after further time in the bottle. Toasty aromas of honeydew melon, lemon and apple reveal nuances of minerals, dried flowers and beeswax. ItÕs generous, long and chalky, with a tightly sculpted shape delivering a drive of melon and citrus flavour towards its tangy finish of lime juice acids and a lick of smoky minerality.
