Still very youthful and lacking development, this remarkable wine has exceptional potential to age slowly. Its delicate aromas of citrusy fruit and dusty floral notes are backed by suggestions of nutty and waxy complexity. ItÕs long and lean, with a fresh, penetrative length of lemon, grapefruit and green melon-like flavours and faint creamy, nutty nuances extending towards a taut finish of citrusy acids. Hands off for some time yet!
A classic developing Hunter semillon with a faintly toasty bouquet of lemon, melon, lime and bathpowder overlying a hint of butter. Piercingly intense, it’s long, concentrated and wonderfully pure, delivering excellent length, intensity and drive of fruit underpinned by a very fine chalkiness and finishing with nuances of toast and butter. It has many, many years to tell its story.
Fragrant and lemony, with purity and freshness, this medium-bodied semillon glides gently down a long and refreshingly clean palate with brightness and zest. It’s a beautifully presented and elegant wine that just lacks the complexity and texture for a higher rating,
Pungent aromas of melon, grapefruit and figs are backed by smoky nuances of roasted nuts and matchstick oak. Meaty and reductive, this thick and chewy chardonnay packs a powerful punchy of juicy peach/melon fruit, although its finish depends more on its assertive oak and leesy complexity. There’s a hint of coarseness and some slightly overdone malolactic butter influence.
Tightly wrapped in fresh citrusy and mineral acids, this long and restrained chardonnay underpins its marginally cooked flavours of grapefruit, lemon sherbet and lime juice with nuances of minerals and candy.
Elegant and restrained, with a spicy, nutty and jasmine-like perfume of ginger, melon and grapefruit backed by vanilla oak and suggestions of wheatmeal. ItÕs forward and juicy, with a ripe presence of buttery, candied melon and peach-like fruit given roundness and texture by nutty oak and leesy undertones. It finishes smooth and creamy, with lingering fruit sweetness and soft acids.
An early drinking, sweet and juicy chardonnay whose tropical, pineapple-like fruit reveals nuances of apricot, lemon meringue and orange rind. ItÕs spicy and a little varnishy, with a sugary but slightly hollow palate underpinned by a fine chalkiness. The fruit appears to have been affected by botrytis.
Fresh and uncomplicated, this spotlessly clean young chardonnay has a lightly dusty bouquet of green olives, cashew, melon and fresh vanilla oak back by nuances of lime juice, grapefruit and nutmeg. ItÕs smooth and gentle, relatively primary and simple, with a pleasing length of melon/lemon flavour backed by nutty, creamy undertones and wrapped in a bright, tangy acidity.
