A stylish, generous and silky young pinot whose alluring bouquet of red flowers, cherries, red berries, chestnut, sage and clove is tightly knit with sweet, meaty aromas of spicy oak. Supported by a fine chassis of drying, but silky tannins, its sumptuous, juicy presence of pristine, penetrative fruit finishes long and persistent. Very complete and finely balanced.
A rich, weightier pinot of elegance and longevity. Its spicy, faintly meaty and herbal bouquet of maraschino cherries, plums and fresh oak reveal a hint of tomato stalk. Medium-bodied, with a deep, generous presence of dark cherry, berry and plum-like flavours entwined with cedary oak and firmish, pliant tannins, it will settle into a sumptuous, smoother style with time in the bottle.
Smooth and supple, with gentle cherry, berry and plum-like flavours underpinned by restrained cedary oak and a supple spine of powdery tannins. Likely to flesh out considerably.
Supple and gentle; musky, herbal and cola-like red cherries, blood plums and cedary oak with polished oak and fine tannins.
Silky-smooth Yarra cabernet whose alluring fragrance of cassis, violets and dark chocolate is punctuated with scents of black olives and capsicum. Briary jujube-like cassis and plum fruit bursts its way down the long and tightly integrated palate of fine tannins and smoky, cedary oak. There’s a persistent hint of undergrowth and a faint herbal, tobaccoey edge.
This pristine, finely crafted cool region cabernet reveals layers of sweet fruit and oak. Its lightly herbal and lightly confectionary aromas of cassis, plums and raspberries are supported by fine-grained vanilla oak, while its smooth and supple palate marries its elegance with a surprising assertive structure of firm, fine tannins. Fractionally too herbal for a higher score.
A fine, supple, smooth and elegant cabernet whose vibrant violet-like tones of cassis, mulberries and dark plums reveal just a little too much herbaceous character for a higher rating. It’s fragrant, heady and handsomely oaked, with an assertive but integrated background of cedar, dark chocolate and vanilla influences before finishing just a fraction green and sappy.
