A restrained and classically stylish chardonnay with some interesting smoky aspects. Nutty and delicate, its restrained bouquet of cumquat, quince, melon and spicy, mealy undertones reveals a struck match aroma. ItÕs smooth and elegant, long and reserved with slightly toasty melon-like fruit underpinned by a fine chalkiness, building in intensity towards its lingering, creamy and savoury finish. If it emerges that some of the smokiness is smoke taint-related, I will need to reassess its quality and longevity.
Forward and generous, this mineral young chardonnay reveals lightly tropical aromas of grapefruit, peach, melon and fresh creamy vanilla oak backed by some vegetal notes and nuances of lemon sherbet, cinnamon and ginger. Fruit-driven and tropical, the palate has some supple and elegant aspects, but lacks genuine length and depth, finishing a little attenuated with green-edged grapefruit notes.
A lean, medium-bodied but very complex young chardonnay whose evolved, waxy bouquet of melon, lemon, white peach and honeysuckle reveals spicy nuances of cinnamon and ginger. Initially round and juicy, its buttery presence of melon/peach flavour reveals creamy, meaty undertones, extending towards a savoury, rather mineral finish of bathpowder and lemony acids. Lacks the depth of fruit for a higher rating.
Thin, forward and green-edged, with a simple presence of confectionary fruit that lacks length, depth and ripeness. Its fragile depth of fruit is unable to carry its burden of heavy-duty leesy handling in the cellar.
Elegant and supple, this long and gentle chardonnay marries its charming fruit with fresh, but finely integrated oak influences. Its bright aromas of white and yellow peach, dried flowers and nectarines overlie creamy nuances of vanilla oak and a whiff of ginger. Its smooth, fluffy presence of pristine, translucent flavour is backed by a fine dustiness and tightly integrated oak, extending towards a fresh, savoury and faintly meaty finish.
Yellow flowers, peach, melon and lemony aromas with chalky, mineral notes and restrained oak; luscious, long and refreshing with a pithy backbone and citrusy acids.
A restrained, fruit-driven and contemporary chardonnay whose presence of fresh pear, pineapple and white peach flavours are lightly supported by nutty, vanilla oak. The wine has a slight sour-edged greenness that should dissipate and perhaps become mineral as it develops in the bottle.
