This earthy, leathery and reductive shiraz offers a minty aroma of small red and black berry fruit with undertones of Bovril. Round and generous, with a firm, sinewy structure, it presents ripe, meaty fruit and plenty of sweet American oak, finishing with a lingering note of dark olives.
A competent, modern and oaky wine from a tough vintage. Its slightly cooked and jammy aromas of black and red berries, plums and mocha/chocolate oak overlie meaty, pruney influences. Smooth and persistent, it’s moderately long and juicy, with some pleasing fruit sweetness, but reveals more raisined and currant-like flavours towards its slightly dehydrated and salty finish.
A lively, bright and sweet-fruited shiraz whose briary, brambly flavours of blackberries, dark plums and cassis are handsomely balanced by creamy vanilla/dark chocolate oak and underpinned by supple, slightly crunchy tannins. ItÕs long, fresh and vibrant, with undertones of briar and black olives, finishing with a light minerality and a briny hint of saltiness.
A very ripe, generous, juicy and rather polished young shiraz with a rather meaty presence of brambly currant-like fruit and a molasses-like vanillin oakiness. ItÕs squeaky smooth, fullish in weight and finishes quite savoury and mineral, with lingering fruit, smoky oak plus a slightly salty aspect.
Smooth, ripe and early-drinking, with a meaty bouquet of blackberries, blackcurrants, dark plums and chocolate/vanilla oak backed by a hint of coffee grounds. Handsomely oaked, itÕs sumptuous and polished, with a sour-edged presence of dark fruits underpinned by fine tannins, finishing with a hint of savoury saltiness and a lingering note of currant.
Backed by suggestions of raisins, its spicy, meaty aromas of dark berries, plums and assertive chocolate/vanilla oak precede a smooth, polished palate whose sweet, fresh small black and red berry flavours and fresh mocha oak are framed by fine, supple tannin, but finish with an evident saltiness.
Sumptuous, ripe and juicy, this handsomely oaked, popular style delivers genuine richness and depth. Its forward, smoky bouquet of dark plums, berries, violets and rather assertive mocha/chocolate oak reveals a hint of mineral. ItÕs polished, smooth and oaky, finishing with brambly richness and minerality, but also with a suggestion of weediness and dried fruits.
Punchy, faintly earthy aromas of dark plums, cassis, blackberries and blueberries are handsomely backed by mocha/chocolate oak. ItÕs smooth and polished, long and juicy, with deeply ripened but not overcooked fruit rather awestruck by powerful oak-derived mocha and caramel influences and supported by firm, grainy tannins. Just too much oak Ð otherwise rather appealing.
A well made shiraz whose sweet, smoky bouquet of fresh raspberries, cassis and blackberries reveals notes of blueberries, coconut, spice and pepper. ItÕs smooth and measured, with a moderate length of reserved small black, red and blue berry flavours and sweet oak underpinned by fine, drying tannins.
Dark and mineral; briary dark berries and plums knit with cedar/chocolate oak, fine tannins and meaty, savoury aspects.
Smooth and juicy, peppery and floral; confiture-like dark berries, redcurrants and blood plums with cedar/vanilla oak, mocha and licorice.
