It’s still in the first spring of youth, but this artful, elegant and presently fruit-driven chardonnay will evolve wonderfully over time. It opens an alluring fragrance of white peach, nectarine, melon and green apple skin backed by smoky, creamy vanilla oak and suggestion of mineral. Smooth and silky, its pristine palate drives with style and focus down a fine, powdery spine towards a gentle finish of refreshing acids.
A youthful, evolving chardonnay whose aromas of grapefruit, lemon, lime and white peach are lifted by notes of flowers and spice, with toasty, creamy, nutty and faintly buttery undertones. It’s anything but flabby, but delivers a vibrant, mouthfilling core of citrus and stonefruit flavour deftly knit with oak and creamy, buttery and yeast-derived nutty complexity. Driving long and generous down a powdery spine, it then focuses around a saline lick of brine and mineral, where a brittle acidity helps it finish dry and savoury. It’s measured and stylish, likely to evolve more richness, weight and roundness while retaining its balance and style.
