    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A very expressive and classically balanced Eden Valley shiraz whose heady bouquet of pristine blackberries and dark plums, cinnamon and cloves, black and white pepper is backed by coconut ice/chocolate oak and briary suggestions of forest floor. Full to medium weight, its elegant and silky palate delivers an evenly measured and pristine expression of black berries, spices and dark chocolate framed by firm, pliant tannins and finishing with a hint of mineral.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2003
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

An excellent wine from a challenging vintage. Its deep aromas of slightly jammy redcurrants, cranberries, cassis and candied red cherries are fully but not overripe, with spicy undertones of cloves and cinnamon, plus a smoky background of creamy coconut ice-like oak. There’s a hint of spirit that is also found on the deeply concentrated and sumptuous palate, whose jujube-like berry and plum-like fruit and newish, assertive and slippery oak are neatly framed by loose-knit tannins. Its lingering core of intense flavour finishes licorice-like, with savoury and mineral notes. A richer and more profound Mount Edelstone than ever seen before, and lacking the cooked or dehydrated flavours common from this vintage, it just lacks the exceptional length for a higher rating.

    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Very smooth, concentrated and stylish, this is a sweet, luscious shiraz of full to medium weight. Its musky, peppery perfume of blackcurrants, plums, licorice, cloves and cinnamon is backed by a lightly smoky, coconut creme-like oak. It’s long, dark and sumptuous, with a long and peppery palate saturated with small berry fruits and framed by firm, pliant tannins. It finishes long, with lingering dark-stained fruit and sweet oak.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 94/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A supple, elegant, smooth and polished shiraz of medium to full richness whose perfumed fragrance of juicy mulberries, cassis and blackberries overlies some subdued, bass-like notes of chocolate and cedar oak. Supple and fine-grained, with a dusty undercarriage of willowy tannin, its bright, minty berry/plum fruit plays down the palate but towards the finish is somewhat subdued by chocolate, mocha and vanilla oak. Very polished, but lacks the length of the great years.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 97/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A joyful, traditional Eden Valley shiraz with a touch of modern polish. Its smoky aromas of dark plums, blackberries, violets, white pepper, cloves and cinnamon overlie meaty, briary nuances while its palate is smooth, supple and fine-grained perfection. Its oak is so well integrated almost to be unobtrusive beneath its deliciously bright, focused and juicy flavours of sweet mulberries, blackberries and cassis, which are tightly honed above a fine, dusty backbone.

A typically smooth, deeply ripened, luscious and silky Mouton Edelstone whose meaty, musky bouquet of pastille-like cassis, dark plums and raspberries is laced with sneezy scents of black pepper, handsomely
supported by chocolate/vanilla/coconut ice oak and backed by nuances of mint and dried herbs. Dripping with plush, concentrated fruit and smooth oak, itÕs underpinned by a fine, firmish spine of powdery tannins, finishing long and elegant with lingering fruit and leathery undertones.

    Rated 0 out of 5

A classic Mount Edelstone whose heady, briary bouquet of cassis, blackberries and sweet chocolate/coconut ice oak is backed by nuances of currant, clove and cinnamon and lifted by a peppery, spicy and violet-like perfume. Long, smooth and silky, its seamless marriage of ripe, pastille-like dark plum, cassis and mulberry flavour, sweet vanilla oak and dusty, loose-knit tannin finishes long and savoury, with a lingering smokiness and minerality.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2010
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deliciously fruited, full to medium-bodied, with pungent meaty and spicy aromas of red berries blood plums, sweet vanilla and coconut ice oak backed by nuances of dried herbs. ItÕs long, luscious and ultra smooth, with plush, marginally jammy fruit underpinned by typically fine-grained regional tannins. It just lacks the precision and focus for an even higher rating.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2012
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Ethereal scents of violets, cracked pepper, cassis, mulberries and delicate cedar/mocha/coffee grounds oak, chocolate, mint and a hint of menthol precede a long, seamless and elegant palate. ItÕs medium to full-bodied, with sweet, briary flavours of blackcurrant, blackberries and dark plums evenly complemented by chocolatey oak with faint coconut/vanilla nuances, extending long and smooth over fine, silky tannins towards a fine, gentle savoury finish of brightly lit acidity.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2014
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Dusty scents of white pepper and dried herbs are lifted by ripe aromas of mulberries, cassis, blackberries and fresh cedar/vanilla oak and reveal a whiff of coconut. ItÕs supple and elegant, smooth and gentle, with a luscious, if indeed jammy expression of small berry flavours, sweet oak and smoky, meaty notes underpinned by dusty, fine-grained tannins. It finishes with a soft acidity, but remains just too jammy and lacking in length for a higher rating.

    Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2015
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Profoundly floral, spicy and incredibly youthful, with a confiture-like bouquet of raspberries, strawberries, redcurrants and blueberries knit with cedar/vanilla oak and backed by a hint of coconut ice. Medium to fullish in weight, itÕs remarkably long and elegant, with a vivacious expression of small berry flavours knit with dusty, cedary oak and a drying, faintly chalky spine. From a cooler season, thereÕs a suggestion of dried herbs and a balance that suggests genuine longevity.
