    Granite Hills Riesling 2008
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Sumptuous, heady, and concentrated, this alluring young riesling has a voluminous rose petal bouquet backed by notes of lime and lemon zest, with undertones of minerals. Tightly sculpted, it’s searingly intense and beautifully focused, with a plush presence of pristine citrus and pear-like flavour with a pleasing fleshy, fattiness above a long, schisty undercarriage of fine phenolics. Taut and focused, itÕs finely balanced and culminates in a racy finish of refreshing acids.

    Granite Hills Riesling 2009
    Jeremy’s score 87/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

From a warmer vintage, this chalky and rather citrusy riesling lacks its usual freshness and perfume, tightness and focus. Quite floral, with slightly candied citrus undertones, itÕs initially round and juicy presence of apple, peach and pear-like fruit overlies a rather phenolic texture, before finishing slightly attenuated with lemon-like flavour.

A marriage of brilliant fruit and possibly Austrian-inspired winemaking attitude, this complex and focused riesling has a heady rose garden perfume of apple and pear lifted by scents of apple blossom and a hint of spice. ItÕs succulent and sumptuous, with a concentrated core of pear, peach and apricot flavour underpinned by a sherbet-like chalkiness, extending long and luscious towards a shapely finish of lemon pulp and minerals.

A drier, botrytis-affected riesling whose slightly flat, citrusy bouquet of peach and nectarine are backed by suggestions of apricots and orange rind. Very mineral and savoury, with a creamy, meaty palate whose light flavours of peach, apple and apricot are wrapped by an assertive citrusy acidity, but do thin out towards the finish.
