Superbly shaped and harmonious, with an alluring bouquet of white and yellow flowers, melon, grapefruit and lemon backed by creamy vanilla oak and nuances of smoke and mineral. A deft choice and application of smoky vanilla oak knits tightly with a core of grapefruit, lime and lemon flavour, moving with crunch and focus before finishing long, slightly pithy and wrapped in racy acids. More proof that it’s obvious that like the best chardonnay made everywhere else, the best from Australia is based around fruit and ripeness.

  • Scorpo Chardonnay 2022
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    $58.00

Very stylish, focused and elegant, this pristine and deeply flavoured young chardonnay reveals a complex fragrance of grapefruit, white peach and nectarine backed by creamy, nutty suggestions of yeast plus suggestions of coriander and oyster shell. Its expressive fruit soaks up its tight-grained vanilla oak as it moves gently and deftly down a chalky spine towards a long, briny finish of mouthwatering acidity. A fine wine from a spectacular vintage.

    $80.00

Slightly leaner than previous releases under this label, here’s a wine that will flesh out over time. Its creamy, buttery fragrance of white and yellow flowers and yellow peach reveals notes of melon and grapefruit, a hint of nougat and a faint meatiness. Initially round and luscious, its persistent core of vivacious stonefruit and citrus flavour moves is layered fashion towards a savoury, mineral and faintly saline finish. Try to give it three years at least…

    Scorpo Eocene Pinot Noir 2019
    Jeremy’s score 91/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Firm and drying, with a sumptuous core of black and red cherries and berries, it delivers a moderate but not great length of flavour. It’s floral and perfumed, with spicy rosewater scents and dusty herbal notes, but its oak is just marginally too awkward and its tannins too drying for an even higher rating.

  • Scorpo Eocene Pinot Noir 2021
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $85.00

Heady scents of rose petals, red and black cherries, forest berries and gentle cedary oak reveal faintly earthy, meaty and citrus-like undertones. Underpinned by a firm spine of astringent, slatey tannins, its rich, chewy palate of small berry and cherry flavour extends with remarkable length and drive, as well as balance and restraint, towards a lingering, savoury finish. Everything is in place for this wine to build considerable depth and power over time. Try to give it the chance!

Smooth and stylish, with a rose petal and red cherry fragrance lifted by notes of cinnamon, exioric spice and cedary oak. It’s long and complete, with a juicy core of red berries and berries framed by fine, supple tannins and finished by a soft acidity.
