    $24.00

Superbly maturing, powerfully scented with dark, ferrous aromas of leathery, dark plums and berries, cedary, chocolatey undertones, whiff of cigarbox and meaty funk. Rich, smooth, fullish in weight but with a refreshingly bright finish of mouthwatering acids, excellent length and drive of searingly intense flavour. Underpinned by drying, ferrous tannins, it’s finely balanced and utterly distinctive. It still has plenty to deliver.

    $38.00

Again, tasting another Aubaine, I’m left with the impression that Scorpo’s ‘entry level’ chardonnay surpassses most of the region’s more prestigious and ambitiously priced labels. Intense aromas of ruby grapefruit, lemon and yellow peach with chalky, briny mineral undertones reveal creamy, meaty nuances and a whiff of coriander. It’s medium to fullish in weight, with true length and a mineral crunch, unfolding a core of citrus and stonefruit before finishing with smoky, spicy and mineral notes and a refreshingly brittle acidity. Outstanding value.

    $39.00

Fragrant schisty mineral and oyster shell-like scents of yellow flowers, grapefruit, white peach and lemon drop with undertones of creme caramel precede a luscious, mouthfilling and fruit-driven palate whose plush, round presence of vibrant fruit is deftly supported by creamy vanilla oak and finished by a refreshing lemony acidity. An excellent wine, easily able to compete with many priced significantly higher.

  • Scorpo Bestia Pinot Grigio 2021
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5
    $45.00

It’s a skin-contacted grigio, so there’s plenty of orange and pink in its colour, but don’t be concerned! Its heady, potpourri-like bouquet of raspberries, cherries and dried herbs reveal citrus-like undertones and a note of musk stick. Long and luscious, with a juicy core of vivacious red and orange fruit underpinned by a fine chalkiness, it extends long, dry and refreshing towards a savoury finish of pleasingly vital acidity. Treat it as a rose – and a very very good one!
