Deep, dark brooding aromas of blackberry, plum and blackcurrant concentrate with meaty, rather gamey new oak qualities. Long, smooth and silky, with penetrative minty small berry flavours, suggestions of licorice and spice tightly interwoven with creamy oak. Typical of the better Barossa wines of this vintage.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2000
    Jeremy’s score 89/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A sumptuous and statuesque shiraz typical of this hot vintage whose dehydrated expression of raisined, prune-like fruit is given some lift and vitality through the presence of more vibrant blackberry and cassis flavours. It’s assertively supported by smoky vanilla and chocolate oak, and reveals meaty, treacle-like undertones. It’s richly flavoured and firmly structured, but shows just a hint of decay at the finish.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2001
    Jeremy’s score 90/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Meaty, earthy and rather evolved, with a leathery bouquet of spicy and slightly stewed plum and redcurrant fruit over fresh cedar/vanilla oak. Framed by fine, drying tannins, its initial impact of juicy dark plum, cassis and blackberry flavour becomes more supple and savoury towards the lingering finish of aniseed and dark fruit. A worthy wine from this difficult vintage, with pleasing balance and elegance.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2002
    Jeremy’s score 96/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A classic Barossa shiraz that effortlessly marries remarkable intensity and concentration with elegance and finesse. Deeply concentrated, its vibrant, minty and briary aromas of blackcurrants and red berries are backed by cedar/dark chocolate oak. Rather closed, it slowly unfolds layers of dark berry and plum-like flavour knit tightly with dusty, fine-grained oak, culminating in a long, lingering finish of meaty, wild berry flavour, dark olives and robust, but pliant tannin.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2003

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2004
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Combining elegance and power, this finely crafted and deeply layered Barossa shiraz has a spicy, strongly violet-like perfume of dark plums, cherries and dark chocolates with meaty, cherry kernel-like undertones. Framed by firm, pliant tannins, its smooth and sumptuous palate is deeply saturated with penetrative flavours of crushed blackberries, raspberries, redcurrants, blueberries and dark plums tightly knit with chocolatey, chestnut-like oak.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2005
    Jeremy’s score 93/100

    $650.00

Deeply flavoured, this firmly structured, ripe and astringent shiraz reveals a briary, spicy bouquet whose deep scents of mulberries, dark cherries, blackberries and smoky vanilla/cedar oak are backed by nuances of dark olives. Brooding and deeply layered, with dark plum and berry flavours underpinned by drying, sinewy tannins, it is likely to flesh out with more fruit sweetness and roundness in the years ahead.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2006
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Particularly youthful and sinewy, this assertive and long-term shiraz will flesh out very slowly. Deeply layered, fiery aromas of blackberries, plums and fresh chocolate/mocha/vanilla oak with undertones of mint, menthol and briar precede a long, complete and astringent palate. Backed by nuances of baked earth, itÕs a carefully crafted, handsomely ripened but not overcooked reflection of this hot Barossa vintage.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2007
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2008
    Jeremy’s score 95/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

Deeply layered, dense and substantial, with a complex, heady bouquet whose deep scents of dark berries, plums and fine-grained chocolatey oak are lifted by floral, cracked pepper aromas and backed by spicy, smoky notes of cinnamon, clove and mocha. Its long and profoundly ripened presence of dark plums, berries and briar is augmented by assertive oak and a slightly raw-edged extract that will need plenty time to soften and integrate.

  • Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 2009
    Jeremy’s score 92/100

    Rated 0 out of 5

A plush, deeply layered and weighty shiraz whose sweet, ripe and typically jammy bouquet of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and briar is tightly backed by fragrant creamy cedar/vanilla oak but reveals a hint of currant. Handsomely oaked, itÕs long and sumptuous, with deep, unctuous but slightly raisined flavours of dark berries and plums that move towards a slightly baked, mineral and edgy finish. ItÕs just marginally over-ripened, but should settle down.
